For the longest time I've been thinking the Shug UI was a 1-off shielding that provided extra defense(damage resistance).. so naturally it would be in one's best interest to keep the UI on for a lot of reasons than just it being the most powerful UI in the game.
But a discussion in some other thread had me testing it out for myself. It was a real hassle to test this out without combat log in the system (take the hint, dev) but I did confirm that the UI shield didn't offer any extra DR. The Shugokl has normal DR -- as in, takes same amount of damage like rest of the classes -- only WITH the UI.
So this means for the majority of combat, the Shug isn't basically 160HP. The Shug is only worth 120HP. No wonder the Shug goes down so easy without the UI.
The Shug is not a 160HP "heavy" class with some attacks receiving a 25% damage resistance at all. The Shug is the most fragile heavy class with lowest HP of all classes with no self-healing skill except Demon's embrace that self-inflicts 60 damage if missed.
I mean c'mon, for most characters in fighting games comparable to Shug, they are typically slower and more difficult to maneuver around, but at least have higher damage and damage resistance to compensate.
This needs to be in reverse working order -- the [b]base[/'b] Shug defense needs to be same as anyone else. When someone else gets hit and receve 20 damage, the Shug also needs to take 20 damage.... not 22.5. The UI needs to be a perk that helps when it is on, not a lifeline that could be just shut off by someone else.
Exactly which other class in game takes a penalty to their basic specifications as in stuff like offense/defense/stamina without being hit by debuff feat skills? At this rate, it's literal -- as in, literally the Warlord is better at trading damage, and the Lawb is a better "tank" as in higher HP, higher damage resistance(in 4v4s with feats). I mean, howz about if we make it so all the knight classes receive 25% more damage from blunt weapons? Or how about we make assassin classes suffer "limp" that shuts down their mobility and dodging by receiving an attack??
I don't care if the devs change the UI into 0 defense at all for the price of bringing up Shugoki base defense to same as everyone else.
As it is the Shug isn't a "normal" class that has an extra defense mechanic to make it seem tougher. It's actually the Shug is only 75% of a normal character that relies on an unstable and temporary shielding mechanic to be like everyone else!
IMO THIS is the most direly-needed Shugoki buff than anything else.
Thanks for your consideration, as always, Jur.Originally Posted by UbiJurassic Go to original post
Personally I don't feel Shug is in that bad of a condition... and while I also had many ideas on the Shug, I honestly believe just giving the "base" shugoki same damage resistance as others, and THEN adding extra DR on top of him when UI is active <-- this could very well be all the "buff" he needs.
So, when the Shug is hit with a default 20 damage skill...
▶ Instead of receiving 25 damage when without UI, and receiving 20 damage with the UI that goes away after the hit
▶ He should be receiving 20 damage when without UI, and receeiving 15 damage with the UI that goes away after the hit
