    Colorblind Settings

    The New Color Blind settings are not the best for myself perhaps others will agree, additional adjustments need to be made


    I struggle with Achromatopsia, a type of color blindness that is rare and is usually a defect from birth, causing only seeing "shades of grey". This being said I feel some brief education may be needed to further help all to understand this disability better. This information provided was take from a site I stumbled upon when trying to explain my color blindness online. A small portion can be read at the bottom of this post.     I play FOR HONOR™ on XBOX ONE™ and have recently gone through the newly added 1.09 colorblind settings. A quick note to the team, Thank You!! I am grateful for the consideration to add such features in the game, so that must be mentioned first and foremost. However, of all the options available, none help distinguish the Guard Indicator from a player's clothing since the indicator matches either defender or attacker (similar in shade and/or color like blue/green or yellow/pink/white) thus returning the inherit source problem not being able to see that indicator at times. I understand it is a difficult thing to change since there are only 3 primary colors that are of different pigments/spectrums. What are the alternatives (if any)...?

    Lets analyze the problem a different way..by broadening the scope. Two main things things are involved causing the indicator to appear gone. Blending into background, becoming covered by foreground, additionally when the guard indicator starts reacting to multiple attacks with color effects then becomes affected by the 2 events previously mentioned. I know its alot to ask but there is still a need for for some adjustments still in order to improve the overall accessibility of the UI for those who struggle.

    Potential Options
    Perhaps a much thicker 'Black' or 'Dark' colored outline around the indicator could be implemented to differentiate from the background and making it visible in front of foreground objects/characters. Or even Increasing the size of it overall, to the width larger than the average player/opponent or even a fixed location on screen (Center Bottom) that becomes active when lock is achieved making it always the top layer...

    Perhaps Others have ideas that I haven't considered, but as it stands now I'm still struggling and I can't help but feel severely disadvantaged...

    Monochromacy
    Monochromacy, more commonly referred to as “total color blindness”, is caused by the total absence of either 2 or 3 of the pigmented retinal cones, reducing vision to one dimension. It comes in two forms:

    Rod monochromacy is a rare, non progressive inability to distinguish any color, resulting from non-functioning or absent retinal cones. Rod monochromacy is typically associated with sensitivity to light (Photophobia) and poor vision.

    Cone monochromacy is also a rare type of total color blindness, however is accompanied by relatively normal vision.
    Being totally color blind makes everyday life much more challenging. The ability to tell the difference between colors of a similar level of brightness becomes nearly impossible, whereas to a normal person – these colors may be totally different. For example, confusion of colors such as green and blue, and yellow and white is to be expected.

    Total color blindness monochromacy

    Rod monochromacy is the condition where the rod cells of the retina are present and functional, but all types of cones are either non functional or missing. Even as the more common form of total color blindness, rod monochromacy is thought to only occur in around 0.003% of people or less.

    Another name for rod monochromacy is achromatopsia, and it is not sex linked – men and women are equally as likely to suffer this disease. Those totally color blind as a result of rod monochromacy usually also suffer a number of other vision impairments including one or more of the following symptoms:

    • Completely unable to distinguish colors
    • Amblyopia (reduced visual acuity)
    • Hemeralopia (with the subject exhibiting photophobia – severe light sensitivity)
    • Nystagmus: Involuntary eye movements
    • Iris operating abnormalities
