A bad, oversimplified, and incorrect story which people love to tell with a passion, and yet usually don't spend even 1/10th of that passion actually doing something about the class that gives them trouble.Originally Posted by novy993 Go to original post
It's why scrubs remain scrubs, m8.
Because he's a PATTERN ORIENTED CLASS which I laid out from the very first post.Originally Posted by novy993 Go to original post
Once you get that pattern down it's not overly difficult to counter. It's one's lack of knowledge that makes the cent feel strong. His pattern isn't something that requires lightning fast reflexes or superior reverse psychology or something.
That's the difference between the cent and other REAL OP classes. Why do you think the competitive players feel classes like the basic Warden or Warlord is a much stronger class in both Dom and Duels? They've been out for like 5 months now and they already know everything there is to know about them, and yet their combat patterns are based on techniques which require very fast reflexes or very high level of mind-games to counter. They already know about all there is to know about Warlords and Wardens but its STILL difficult to counter.
Compared to that the cent's strength is basically based on the laziness of the players. 80~90% of cent players make a living -- so to speak -- counting and preying on the fact that average players won't really bother to memorize even the most basic of things and will fall easy prey. Unlike fighting Wardens or Warlords, just simply KNOWING the cent is enough to drop his combat prowess against you down to like half or something.
Why am I giving these long lectures about the cent? Because you guys are letting yourself become the victims and easy scrub-kills here. 80~90% of the mass-produced average level cents running around that's giving you troubles are easily cut down once you learn like just one or two of their favorite patterns and how to counter it. That's like the overwhelming majority of cents you'll meet in an average dominion game.
The rest 10~20% of cent players are just simply good players using cents, which you'll be losing against whatever classes he uses anyway.
I thought you did a good job answering the OPs question kweassa. I did the same thing. Got stomped once s2 came out, played the cent for a few hours and started doing much better. Haven't touched it since. For some reason I've really been digging the Conq lately.
Also going with what the other guy said, yeah you can know how to beat a cent and still have valid complaints on it. You have to have a good solid grasp on the character in order to beat it, more so than any other character i feel. Which points to how imbalanced it is with the fighting mechanics of for honor. Which is something I'm sure 95% of us can agree on.
What classes do you centurion defenders play? You of course realize that not every class can defend against him as well as others, right?
And are you defending his current capabilities in 4v4? Really? Just wow.
Be real, the game was more fun before season 2. I still see at least 2 centurions in 9/10 matches. A match without them is rare but fantastic.
You're definitely a centurion main. I love how you wrote a ten page essay as to how the centurion is a legit, fair fighter. He's not. He's cheap and people that use him, either do it because they like centurion's looks, or because he's an easy win.
Your "pattern fighter" ******** is just that... b.s.
He has no variety and has to use those b.s. pattern of b.s. attacks that drain stamina or stun otherwise he's useless. That's ubisoft's fault, not yours or anyone that uses him, but don't act like he's a fair fighter because he's not.
Again, go frickin check on fhtracker or something and then come back and tell me I'm a "centurion main". Oh that's right... you can't. He doesn't show up in the class lists -- because since May 16th and Season2 release I've never even once used a cent against another person in PvP. The only time I've ever grabbed a cent was to learn for myself just what my problem was with the cent and practicing a couple of weeks until finally I understood what the cent was about.Originally Posted by RoosterIlluzion Go to original post
So is it "obvious" that I'm a cent main? I kinda think the opposite. It's pretty obvious how warped and biased views cent-whiners have, and just how much skewed their view on reality is.
And I love how you folks just all turn silent for a while, look the other way, and then pretend it didn't happen and start saying the same stuff all over again -- whenever someone brings up the fact:I love how you wrote a ten page essay as to how the centurion is a legit, fair fighter. He's not. He's cheap and people that use him, either do it because they like centurion's looks, or because he's an easy win.
(1) competitive player communities rate centurions as mid ~ uppermi tier performance at best
(2) no centurion has ever won a major tourney
(3) no major competitive player has ever turned to a centurion as his main
Competitive players are the most sensitive people when it comes to changing mains. If something has an objectively and undeniably superior performance they switch to it, because their mandate is "winning". So then, how come none of them use cents?
Easy wins? I'll give you that one. Of course he's an "easy win."
Just look at this stupid darned thread.
I give you sorry bunch of complainers an explanation and a "how-to" to stand up to a centurion. A very detailed, and just ONE practical advice that goes, "Grab a cent yourself, and practice daily, at least in BOT fights, to learn his moves and tricks.
And your egos can't even take that one advice sincerely. Oh no. You just immediately reject it, go into a denial, and then straight back to doing nothing but running your mouths off and complaining while rolling around your own poop, tirelessly wishing for someone to come around and castrate the centurion just for you.
Yeah? If he doesn't have any variety at all and has only one repetitive pattern, what does that say about the people that can't even handle that one pattern?Your "pattern fighter" ******** is just that... b.s.
He has no variety and has to use those b.s. pattern of b.s. attacks that drain stamina or stun otherwise he's useless. That's ubisoft's fault, not yours or anyone that uses him, but don't act like he's a fair fighter because he's not.
See, another fine example of just how much you're clueless about the cent.
Not only are you clueless, you don't want to admit you're clueless. You don't want to try out the cent for yourself for practice, you don't want to take time with practice bouts with a friend to learn the timings, and you don't want to learn anything knew.
But you still want to win in that state -- and that's why the cent is so easy to win with. So easy preys, victims everywhere.
Lazy people everywhere.
(ps) Compared to the difficulty of counterng cent patterns, just your normal, average Warden SB vortex spamming is like 2~3 times harder. (Used to be like 10 times harder before the nerf) The cent has many patterns, but individually, it doesn't take any superhuman reflexes, and the quality of mind-games they can play is very low.
Learning how many patterns he has is the KEY to defeating the centurion, and you're never, ever going to learn all of those by just fighting against them and getting the "view" from only this side. You HAVE to go over and see what the "view" is like on that side to get a full picture.
If you aren't prepared to do that, then friggin stop whining about centurions, because you're the one who gave up on your chance to actually stand up to him, friggin' pansies.
I'm agreeing with Kweassa1. Their is nothing I can say that they haven't already, and anything I do say will go right over your heads. The Cent in any 1v1 is no way near OP, and easily beaten. Hell I've killed Cents in 2 hits, he's got such a low health pool that if he stuffs up once that can be the majority of his health gone.
In gank situations, it shouldn't really matter, because the vast majority of the time when you are fighting of multiple enemies, you are going to get killed. Patience is in such little supply with everyone in this community it's a joke. It's been stated numerous times that Cent is getting more changes in Season 3, which is literally just around the corner. All the changes you want to happen might not even happen, and sooking in the forums everyday is just beating a dead horse. The developers and moderators do know all about the Cent, and contrary to popular belief, they can't make changes overnight. They don't have a magic button to press to fix things, but they do have one that collects the salt of the forums. So either be patient, stop complaining and learn, or sell the game.
Or perhaps git gud

or why they removed the instant hit after a left throw. people just need to not get thrown.
and his stamina drain is not so bad either. just dont get hit and he cant drain.
if his parry punish is so hard then just dont get parried."
(end of sarcasm)
but this is how all the centurion players defend this character even though he has clearly inintended moves.
Also he has not just a patterns he can follow he actually has an insane mix up potential.
normal 2nd heavy or charge into unblockable heavy or wait for the first unblockable frame indicator to show up and softcancel into gb.
this alone is so dangerous especally on consoles with the fps disadvantage
the first heavy can also be deleyed to make the parry timing really tricky. and worst if the parry fails you have a chance of getting pinned and there is the cent combo...
dodging backwards will not safe you from his punches because they have an insane reach even though he is labeld as "close range".
and dodging sideways always gives you the risk of falling into a gb.
no matter how you defend the cent he has many advantages that vanilly characters lack.
Pretty sure your the first person to say "there's nothing wrong with him" in this thread. Seriously, it's like half the people around here don't even bother to read the posts. Y'all just scan it, say hey they don't agree with me and start mashing on the keyboard.Originally Posted by Arekonator Go to original post
I don't think anyone has said he's a fine and perfectly balanced character.
