What am I doing wrong? I was in a fight with a Warden earlier and literally couldn't do anything against him due to this. He would do it, I would dodge away, he would guard-break me and I never could get a guard-break off against him to get him off me.
Is it a bug?
Is my timing just wrong on it?
Getting GBd during a dodge make it uncounterable -- as in, impossible to CGB.
Since the two nerfs to the shoulder bash, nowadays the warden also needs to just choose a 50/50, and he can't react to dodges to cancel-GB any more. If you think his attempt is going to be a SB-cancel-GB, then just CGB it. If you think it's going to be a straight-up shoulder bash, then dodge.

Well, you can do this. But then you have your 50 / 50... I prefer to counter it before, like:Originally Posted by kweassa1 Go to original post
- Warden is in light attack range when he begins to charge: light attack (interrupts him)
- Warden is out of light attack range when he begins to charge: dodge roll away - or go for your 50/50 chance
- Warden is "far" away and begins to charge: get ready to dodge, he cannot cancel the Bash into a GB on longer ranges plus he cannot defend himself after he missed the Bash
