Hi,
So I'm not normally one for posting in feedback forums but here goes.
Lets start on a positive. The Uplay client has come a very long way in the years since I first started using it so kudos to the team on that but what is with the game update process? I know this used to be much worse but it's now a case of "press play to patch". In general I find my self doing this with Uplay applications:
1. Jeeze I wouldn't mind playing a little <insert ubisoft title here>
2. Open up Uplay
3. Navigate to games, find what you want and press PLAY.
4. "Your game requires an update"
5. Ok, fine update. 7GB?!
7. Ok, I'll play something else while I'm waiting. On another platform that actually maintains updates (not trying to be cheeky here but because probably all my Uplay games need updating I have no other choice and I don't want to go through them all pressing "play" to find out)
8. Play something else for hours instead and forget about <insert ubisoft title here>
9. Return some days later and repeat the process from step 1.
This is the number one reason I can't use Uplay. Why, after all these years, is there still no background updating of games to the latest revision without human interaction. As a customer I feel as if ubisoft does not respect my time. In this modern time computers should be waiting on humans not the other way around.
Hey Bcspd,
Uplay should fully support automatic background downloads while Uplay is running and not in a game. It will periodically scan all of your games for any new updates and once again when you attempt to launch the game.
Since we don't currently have the option to launch Uplay with Windows boot it may seem like it's not keeping your games updated. Could it be that you're not receiving these background updates simply because Uplay isn't running until you decide to play some <insert ubisoft title here>?
Thanks
