Hi there! The game is designed so that one player controls one ship, we won't feature that kind of multi-crew cooperation.

What boarding? Boarding is just a cutscene animation, like an execution animation in For Honor.

Moreover there are a lot of mentions of players & ships, where they are both one and the same. Player IS the ship, not a character controlling the ship.

Think of it like a ship simulator, like World of Tanks but using pirate ships instead of tanks.

I would imagine that the base combat system would be difficult to change. I like that each ship has a job to do. It would be nice to have each crew member control the individual munitions. Although, who would be controlling the rest of the ships un you're armada?

From what I've seen, It's basically Assassin's Creed IV: Online, and Ships only. Or like, World of Warships: Pirate Edition.

What you're looking for is Sea of Thieves, which has gameplay pretty much exactly like you're describing.

Was just about to say the same thing, If you want a pirate game that's Coop game play on one ship with 4 friends you should look that up. You will however need an Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC with the right specs to play it. But in that you all have a role to play on the ship, Navigator/Captain/Lookout, even adjusting the sails to catch the wind for extra speed or slowing down when in combat. And when in combat you have to load cannon balls into the cannons and aim/fire them yourselves (You can even fire yourself out a cannon onto the enemy ship and kill them that way) Its a much more "Cartoony" Take on Pirating, where as this looks to more realistic in a sense.

Ironically, Skull & Bones might look more realistic, but it looks to play in a much more "cartoony" way than Sea of Thieves will.

Not especially, from what I've seen, at least the wind will be deeply modelized and you'd be able to play between islands taking advantage of the wind. I hope it's also for the water streams.
I hope (but it doesn't seem like it) that damages will be deep and realistic not so arcade like in AC. You can see something a bit like that but in a much more realistic and historic way, so different, and it's far from arcade, like manning differently sails from different masts to enhance turning speed...
