The devs of this game should absolutely be ashamed of themselves for allowing the Berserker to reach a buggy and sorry state as they are right now. To be clear, to date the only positive changes made to the class is hyper armor which is next to meaningless and fixing the untechable guardbreak on block (which is back btw on PlayStation when a zerker fights a shield class, thanks for looking out)
If the devs are waiting for "more data" you aren't going to get much because there seriously aren't many players playing the class anymore since the defensive meta, revenge changes, update to other characters has made it increasingly harder to get takedowns in 1v1, so we are to rely on ganks which just feels like cheese and we are put on an obscene disadvantage in a skilled 1v1 since we have zero way to force offense.
You wait until now to increase chip damage which is supposed to magically fix the problem where our attacks are nothing more than parry bait. An unblockable you would probably implement as our ending top heavy which is by far our slowest move, easily parried and would not solve the issue. You refuse to fix blatant errors in programming in regards to our zone attack specifically in regards to the backward zone which has a 1/4 of the stamina usage than our trash minion lawnmower that cannot be cancelled and is easily parried/deflected on the last hit. Our headcrusher bug which makes use randomly charge like an idiot into our opponents causing confusion for both parties and if the opponent strikes leaves us wide open to punishment.
The last dev steam I listened while yet another patch was to be coming out and not one change or fix or anything to the least played class right now. What I did hear was how appreciated you were at one person saying how much you all have done thus far. I don't doubt that there has been a lot of work done by your team to appease a very hard community to please, but all of that, the meaningless complaints about classes being underpowered, the whining of people wanting buff after buff after buff, watching conqueror, Valkyrie, kensei, raider, and peacekeeper (yes even peacekeeper who was adjusted back after getting a nerf) all received adjustments. All of the dev talk about changes made, changes to come, changes changes changes, but here us few berserkers sit, still waiting that one day we won't have to feint 3/4 of our stamina bar to get one light attack off and pray it connects.
I don't share the same sentiment as the community member that praised you for all that has been done, because I still sit here, continuing to play a broken class simply for the love of the potential that he does have to be competitive. But you all have neglected that class way too long and my fuse has about run out. I have grinded Berserker to rep 28, almost 29 now and once I have hit rep 30 I will probably end up taking a hiatus simply just for how infuriating it has been trying to hold out hope that some change any change, would be made. I do not share the same sentiment because the information about this class isn't something you find on a spreadsheet with win percentages, it's in looking at the class and analyzing if what he does fits in the grander scheme of the game and right now it is sorely lacking and I am not sure you are even looking at this point.
I am so sick of listening to all of these changes and waiting to hear that at least you are looking at zerker, but every Thursday, I wait through every Q&A session, and at this point I am once again not surprised to not hear anything. This is called neglect, and it is unforgivable. Neglect for months now, and to still have a class that has very real bugs is shameful, at what point do you finally look and say "what's the pick rate for this character?" Because I can assure you that it is not high, it is probably abysmally low and I don't even need to look at a spreadsheet, I just need to watch every face off and see me being one of the very few people still dedicated to the class.
It was said on livestream that the intent was for players to hone in on one to two classes and not expected to buy everything for all of the characters, if that is the case then why is one class being neglected this blatantly when there are bugs still in the class? It really isn't a wonder that many people lost interest and jumped ship from zerker to characters such as centurion or warden. Because they are complete characters that have enough versatility to be able to create openings even when the opponent refuses to do so.
At any rate, I am pretty sure I just wasted way too much time on this, it's not like you all have listened to zerker players in the past, not sure why you would start now. I guess it's just that one last I seriously hate you all right now message coming from a player that didn't whine or complain and waited patiently for a fix and possibly small buff to help create openings to come to help round out the class. It's just words on a screen to you, but just a place for me to get out my final thoughts regarding your blatant disrespect for people that have dedicated themselves to honing the skills of a class that showed a lot of potential.
You can return to fixing your defensive meta, implementing ranked mode, merging centurion pin in 4v4 when multiple cents are in a match, improving stability, and all of the other things you were currently neglecting our class to work on. To be honest I don't even know why I wasted the time...
Indeed we have been neglected, and were graced with our first reply ever in another thread stating that "If a class has a healthy K/D ratio, we tend to leave it be". This is of course nonsense. I main Zerk and have 2.5~ or so kills per death ratio on 4v4 matches. This is mostly because i'm skilled and 4v4 is full of idiots, most of which don't know how to play yet. My win/loss in Duels and Brawls, although i'm not entirely sure of the numbers, is substantially less. As a Berserker, you're forced to faint and spam light attacks, only daring to heavy when it's guaranteed. Something any class can do. Even then, when i'm at my sharpest and pulling out all the tricks I can, I will still lose to the majority of other classes if played by a skilled gamer and at the end of the match feel like there's nothing I could have possibly done about it.
Berserker has the following problems, as stated in numerous other comprehensive threads which have been ignored entirely. You listening @Ubi?
1. A small, mostly useless kit. I'll elaborate:
* Spin chop - Says it has hyperarmour. Doesn't. Pretty slow and easy to block/parry thus only rendering it useful for dodging unblockables.
* Head slicer - Again, highly telegraphed and only really good against opponents who are running away.
* Head crusher - Highly telegraphed and buggy.
* Boar rush - This move works OK for killing runners, which is probably as it was intended. Fair enough.
* Dance of the paired blades - Whilst an awesome idea and hilarious for killing noobs who haven't learnt to block and parry yet, is useless against skilled opponents unless the Zerk player is very good at feinting. Even then, it's sketchy. It's just too predictable.
* Slashing rush - Pulling the backwards version off is hit-and-miss. This would be useful for countering unblockable interrupt attacks if it was more reliable. The forward version is very easily blocked and as mentioned, just a lawnmower for trash mobs really.
* Bear Mauler - Too slow. You'll never finish this combo against a skilled opponent.
2. Highly telegraphed heavy attacks. The only time I dare use a heavy attack is when i've pulled off a GB of thrown my opponent into a wall/on the floor.
3. No reliable way of opening up your opponents (A particularly crippling problem in the current climate)
4. Buggy moves (Head splitter, backwards slashing rush, spin chop)
5. Good damage, but it's extremely difficult to bring it to bear.

Furthermore, is it not a better way of measuring how well a class is doing by seeing it's standing in the tournaments that have taken place? You nerfed the Peacekeeper due to the community complaining and presumably because of the level of saturation of said class in the tournaments, and even banned the class from being used in your own final if I remember correctly.
How many people used a Berserker in the pro tournaments? If anyone was foolish enough to do so, what round did they make it to? I honestly can't imagine that even the most skilled player made it past the first heat using my favourite dual axe-wielding little friend. Looking at his K/D ratio across all players on a spreadsheet doesn't seem like a great way of making a decision to make changes or not. I can spank loads of noobs in skirmish and get lots of opportunistic kills to boost my K/D as a Berseker, but how much better would my K/D ratio be on a Warlord? Or a Warden? Or a Peacekeeper?
To be clear, I have a similar KDA as you, and I was dueling with a modest amount of success, to a point. It shouldn't be that a characters one weakness is persistent block and easy parries since our attacks are so slow. It's to the point that shield holders are completely abusing the untechable guardbreak on block now on PlayStation if they know about it, which most probably still don't because there are so very few of us left.Originally Posted by G0RECH1LD Go to original post
And I guess that's another thing that truly bothers me, is that it's not as if we haven't shared our thoughts about the bugs to the class. In fact most of us have been very vocal in a respectful way to this point about the issues. But since we aren't the vast majority of players it just feels like nothing is ever going to be done and the devs are content having a blatantly broken class on their roster.
I said to a friend of mine the other night I honestly can't wait to get to 30 and be done with the class simply because of the hell it has been to play. Sure we get decent, I won't even say good because it's ridiculously hard to land a heavy, damage. A class shouldn't need to feint this much to get one light attack off, while getting zone spammed by other classes that have faster instant gratification zone attacks that are nearly unpunishable and can cheese their way to a victory against what could be a very skilled berserker.
I am glad because at least then I can say I have mastered all the class has to offer. From cancel side heavy opposite side light to side light cancel opposite side light, which both are still parry bait since the spin chop is obscenely telegraphed and is parry bait for anyone that has more than 30 minutes in the game and has a grasp on parry mechanics. Feint guard break thrown in the middle of a chain was decent until counter guard break mechanics became a thing. Now I expect to be CGB on just about every guard break.
And to hear the win loss ratio is what is used to determine when a character needs to be looked at is just infuriating. I don't think people really realize that when you have 90% of a playerbase that has ostensibly left berserker for more viable classes, that if they left at a 90% win rate and there is no additional data being generated since they are no longer playing that character, that the numbers will still generate 90% a year from when they looked at that player since again, no new data is being generated. To be fair that is an over exaggeration, but it does get to my point, that win loss ratio should never be used as a metric in determining when a character needs an adjustment or should not be the sole indicator used. They show these hero games and how devs used to play the game to build upon the game in a meaningful way and I wish they would sit down, play the class and actually understand the severe limitations all zerkers are dealing with and also understand that yes the class may be marked hard, but this is borderline impossible and those of us that have been dealing with these issues since day one have had an increasingly hard time having fun on what was an okay class to start, but now is just a tumbleweed.
At any rate, while I remain slightly hopeful that they will look into it, I am maintaining my stance on the hiatus as this is shameful on their part and I don't feel this level of neglect should be rewarded. I will probably return sometime into season 3 and check out the new characters, but I am skeptical any change will be made to fix this broken class.
We're a Cult following class to be sure, which further reinforces my belief that looking at KD/A is not truly indicative of the state of the class. The class is one of, if not the least popular in the game and is the people who do play it seem to be quite fanatical about him. Of course i'm gonna have a decent KD/A in some game modes, i've been playing video games religiously for 20 years and have mained Berserker exclusively since beta!
Dimmerscroll21, I've also had a modest amount of success in duels some days, but only against other assassins when i'm fully on-the-ball.
To the op
All noob complaints bezerker is amazing in high end fights if not over powered hes ability to fake attack into guard break or heavy attack is overpowered. No other character can land a heavy attack so well from a fake attack. Tired of all these noob complaints ruining the game.
I've posted this in so many berserker threads hahaOriginally Posted by OnlyTopHeavy Go to original post
