I can respect that Kean. I do admit I wish that supressive fire played a bigger role against enemies, more than just making them hide back under cover or duck. I think that most people have approached Tier 1 in the wrong way. They approached it with the goal to get to tier 1 because they feel as though it is a ranking system. The better way would have been to keep progressing until you hit the tier that you feel most comfortable with its difficulty. Perhaps it was a implementation flaw but Ubisoft probably should have allowed players to go back and pick any tier level that they have unlocked to play at, but it wouldn't count towards their current progression. This way players would be able to "test" the waters for future tiers without jepordising their experience.
For me I have not had to adjust my playstyle very much. If anything I have become slightly more cautious which is what how I wanted to play but the base extreme (some minor HUD tweaks) allowed me to be more rambo so I just was a lot more. I am progressing through tier 26 currently and I haven't found the point where I believe it to be unfair. Most times I die it has been to poor positioning or when playing in coop (which I don't do very often) when the enemy spaws right next to you or I wasn't prepare for my teammate to disrupt the enemy yet.
I do like this aspect of the game still. Taking it slow, using your drone, lures, rebel spotting and diversion when needed. That sort of slow play I do like and is what has kept me in the game for so long. I am at tier 25 now, but I am feeling that I will stop playing before tier 1. It's a very narrow aspect in such a large world to only be able to play this style, even though I enjoy it. But just before I were on a bike, drove past a Unidad vehicle going the other way. A second later they were on my tail. The slow character controllers (due to all these minor animation clips that takes control over the character), didnt give me enough time to jump the bike and take control over my character before I was dead.Originally Posted by da stealth Go to original post
So at this stage, in those situations, which you often end up in such a large world, they either need to fix the player controller so it operates quicker, or they need to do something about AIs.
But beside that. The slow play stealth aspect is very good.
I was just playing tonight and I had nearly taken a base (picking off remaining forces) when a Unidad chopper comes from behind, engages me and then takes me out in a brief burst of fire. It was over at that point. Unidad always seems to pop out of nowhere (in force) to completely ruin what I am trying to accomplish. Occasional surprises are fine and actually fun, but this is just frustrating.
I have always played on extreme difficulty, without markers and a limited HUD. That didn't change with the new Tier system. I also preferred to play without using the drone although some of my co-op teammates would for recon only. I still play without markers but I've had to rely on AI teammates when playing alone (synch shots). my drone and rebel support. Again, not what i prefer to do but I have to adapt since the engagement logic and enemy ability is so aggressive/precise.
Yeah, and I find that its less and less to do, and not because Ive depleted the content, but because of all the poor game mechanics. Taking cargo planes/choppers back is just a frustrating experience due to the missiles and slow handling/speed of planes/choppers. There's no main stories anymore to pursue. And driving around to explore some of the environment usually ends in you getting killed by some random Unidads. So its mostly spawning close to a base and doing that in stealth. And thats it. I log in, do a base, and log out again now. I am guessing by next week I am uninstalling the game.
I am getting so sick and tired of enemy's spawning near me or even on me and I am tired of missions that spawn enemies after you already reconed the area. When I am not in extreme mode I can see the blobs on my mini map just instantly spawn out of no where.
I reconed a Unidad base VERY well, not just me and my drone but also maxed out rebel spotting and after I kill the last one I run in there and there are three more that popped up right infront of me and mission failed. Instant spawning mechanic is the worst thing you can do to a game where the majority of players seem to learn toward more realism than anything else. re-enforcement's should have to drive at least from the nearest base or the nearest guys parked along side the road not instantly spawning them. Worst mechanic EVER!!! Specially now that this tier system is in place!
Personally I think this instant spawn system is the very first thing Ubisoft needs to address but that's just me
I had a strange thing happen yesterday -
I saw an NPC scurrying around that would not accept a mark when I aimed at it - ie no green for rebel and not red/purple for enemy, but it had a gun and was working its way towards me - ie not a civie. My hud had cleared suggesting all local enemies were wiped out in preceding engagement. When I shot it, I got the message Rebel Killed on screen, but my AI squad message said Enemy down. Unfortunately it was too dark to see how it was clothed (I was using night vision and it was at around 150m range).
It seems there are either traitor rebels, or a bug that results in the game not knowing what the hell it is. I am fairly sure I have been shot by such 'traitors' before after being 100% sure I had cleared an area. This just happened to be the first time I have actually saw it and was suspicious of it (tier 1 at lower tiers tends to make you double check everything).
sadly i feel the team lost there way turning this game in to more the division than a 3rd person tactical shooter,as a shooter its does ok again the AI is crap and with all ubisoft game unless they acknowledge this it will never get better.
AI should be decent in this type of game, they should scale with difficulty but all ways be a challenge but not in a way that makes them annoying which sadly GRW does.
the SAMs should have been a permanent destroy, not a reload and fixed system or the helos/planes should have had anti SAMs in them.
The most frustrating aspect for me is getting mowed down instantly by enemies. If a firefight erupts I really can't contribute to the combat. I have to basically rely on my bullet sponge teammates and rebel reinforcements to fight enemies...and since there are no effective squad commands outside of "open fire on random targets while you all run around randomly" I feel unengaged from a strategic/tactical perspective.
And the SAMs...my god they are unbearably frustrating.
Too many issues to bother highlighting them all, needless to say they were all pointed out at beta stage. There will never be good AI in this game. Face it. I will have to upload a vid where I was sniping from a rooftop when a heavy spawned behind me on the roof! This is why PVP is very much needed, despite what PVE players will say. Let's just hope it is implemented well.
