It's the little things that make the game annoying

Trying to play hardcore where you never fall to enemy gunfire you realize how many little things are just plain buggy and broken and make the game not fun sometimes.

Helicopters fly in and make no sound.
Enemies spawn in the dumbest areas. Spawning in itself is a cheap mechanic.
Silly responses by enemy AI like shooting you with their guns pointed the wrong way.
Enemy AI knowing exactly where you are and are like magnets.
AI teamattes aren't suppose to be seen when on follow but sometimes will.
Air defense shooting missiles while flying at the tree line and lower. If it has line of sight you can hover right over the ground and still get shot down.

The quality of life while playing is low if you really try to play this game hardcore due to these issues and issues like these. A lot of little things just take you right out of the immersive feel the zones bring.

I'm playing no enemy icons and no minimap. So being able to hear something like a helicopter flying over me is crucial and sometimes it will appear with no notice and no sound.

Anyway...back to dying from random bs. Just felt like making a post.

Just got shot down by a missile. I was flying so low that I managed too land the chopper before it fully targeted me. It still managed to target me and kill me. Logged straight out. Getting just really silly now. Wish the forum mods answered any questions I had about it before, and if there are any plans on fixing AIs, but so far no response from any of them, so I am taking that as no changes are coming.

AI isn't something I've witnessed in Ubisoft games. I think it's a concept they haven't even tried to work on. Just make the enemy see the player and attack the player, that's pretty much it. Once one enemy sees you, all enemies see you. As for helicopters, crikey, where to start - from the never ending stream of Apache's to their perfect lock on. Oh and don't forget the bullet proof fences and plants, that oddly the enemy can shoot through fine. I do wonder the size of testing department Ubi employ, and whether they even listen to them.

'AI' is probably better referred to as AS - Artificial Stupidity

Re SAMs - there are many places where a SAM will start to target you on the ground - ie the instant you enter the helo.

You touch on something about the 'AI' that gets very very irratating in tier 1 mode - their is no physical part of reaction time - ie time spent bring a weapon to bear on you after seeing you - its always instant shot to the head. Perhaps the most annoying road warriors and their mini guns - the instant they pass cover they are perfectly on target. Really? In the back of a truck at speed on a bumpy road and they get guranteed head shots from 100m taking only around 1/10th second to see you, bring weapon top bear and fire it and kill you? There is no ****ing way that should be possible. Same with the truck drivers that jump out and instantly shoot you in the head.

Then there are enemy spawns - Ive head enemies spawn within 20m of me - even right of top on me in a vehicle (instant unavoidable death). There is a destroy convoy mission near a safe house (about 750m kill range) - often a unidad vehicle will spawn at the top of the road to the safe house the instant the convoy is destroyed - tough **** if you happened to be standing there when you shot the convoy 750m away. I have actually shot the convoy, then immediately thrown a grenade at where I expected the unidad vehicle to spawn - it has spawned and kill me before the grenade exploded (tier 1 mode of course).

It seems normal recently for enemies to spawn as little as 100m away. They should NEVER spawn with reasonable combat range - ie never within 1km and really shouldnt spawn within reasonably visible range.

Then there are the buggy santa blanca vehicle spawns - the vehicle spawns - I destroy with HTI and another often spawns in its place, or worse near where the first vehicle might have been had you not killed it.

Cheap AI behavior combined with tier 1 lower tiers are making this game close to unplayable using reasonable tactics that are not specifically tailored to get around broken AI behavior. Yes - I can play tier 1 (currently on 13) without getting shot in the head, but in doing so this had ceased to be a combat simulation and instead a battle against lame developer choices.

The SAM sites were irritating before but now they are just as frustrating as some of the other "amped up" traits in Tier mode IMO. I can handle that you may need to take out a local SAM or two before taking off in a helo (in fact, I like that), but at least make it so SAM sites will be inactive for a period of time. .....maybe 24 hours in-game time? .....or at least introduce jamming capabilities or physical countermeasures.

Personally, as I progress through this new Tier mode, I am finding it less fun and more frustrating. ....not frustrating in the fact that it is more difficult but frustrating in how they have made it more difficult. Unfortunately, this new Tier mode simply increased traits found in the existing game design to adapt to this new, progressive difficulty mode. The side effect is that it amplifies existing flaws and/or creates new ones. ....in my opinion.

It is what it is. For the things the game does right, there are a million other little (and big) things that drag it down. The Tier 1 stuff doesn't do anything for me personally.

I thought about asking for a skill upgrade that could counter aircraft detection. Or heat seeking counter strike on SAMs. But since Ubisoft isn't adding new weapons or skills, I didn't bother asking. I would like to just fly around the map sometimes without being pestered (and shot down) every fifteen seconds. I'm not even talking about Tier 1.

Agreed. ....but at least I was able to do it before (given I kept up forward momentum). Now I have to dive behind cover but most times it's too late.

Sure, there are ways to go around these threats but frankly, I'm not going to spend that much time flying in and around those areas to get that familiar with specific routes.

I have actually been having a lot more sucess in dodging SAMS just recently. It seems if you wait a tiny bit for the missile to start coming at you then turn in the same direction the missile is curving then that is how you dodge it.

On the note about AI, I have been mulling it over for a few days and there are a couple of conclusion I have come to. You can either say it is unfair or it is more human like. The AI play more as though a human were thinking behind a controller on the other end. They aim in at the last know position and fire when you poke your body out. I know I do that against the AI themselves. This is just one example but there are others.

IMO, their consistent accuracy/abilities while in "Engaged" status is beyond what I would expect a human player is capable of in this game. .....again, speaking of consistent performance.

In either case (and I've said it before), for me it's not a matter of not being able to adapt and further my character in this new Tier mode. I have been able to adapt my playstyle to do that. The problem I have is that the game is losing it's fun factor as a result. .....becoming more of a grind than a challenge I look forward to.

The only thing driving me now is probably curiosity.
