Idea: New game modes to keep players interested
Hello For Honor Community,
I played and still playing this game since release. Now i think it's time to write my first post and give a suggestion what in my opinion should be in the game to keep players motivated.
I admit there are some things in the game like balancing which aren't optimal. But I'm still in love with the unique feeling For Honor provides to me. Despite those problems of having a defensive meta, balancing problems and all this criticism brought to the developers I believe there are other things that could be as important as the things mentioned. (Btw: We should love the devs for not letting us down and still trying to improve the game!!!)
Topic: New game modes especially.
First of all i want to mention that the implementation of new game modes could bring a lot of variety into the game. Another benefit would be an increased motivation and interested to play and maybe a rising playerbase caused by an alternative way to play the game.
The following should be an overview of game modes i have in my mind. I can't and won't explain every game mode in perfect detail because no ones ideas are perfect. Also the developers (if they recognize my post) should be more free in decision of what to adapt from this post / how to improve it / and how to implement modes into the game.
"Last man Standing / Free for all"
You get a bit of everything here. A mix of Duels, Brawls and just a wild and messy skirmish.
Suggestions: Players: 8 - 14
Map size: relatively small but with enough room for a big skirmish involving so many players / also no room to hide until the end
Teams: No Teams everyone on his own
Respawn: No
The concept behind this should be that every player starts the round with the same amount of distance between each other. Also everyone should be able to see everyone. As the fight starts the player has to decide who to fight first or who to team up with to fight the others. Lately it should be an all vs all where only the last survivor wins. 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. Place should get bonus experience or other kinds of rewards. All the other played placed should get experience related to their placement.
Another important point to mention should be that everyone can decide for himself what to to after death. 1st. Watch the others fight until the end. 2nd. Leave the lobby without getting a penalty (only after death) and get rewarded related to his placement.
"Battle"
This mode should be what it means! A battle. It is related to the already known elimination mode, except for a few major differences.
Suggestions: Players: 8 - 16
Map size: medium but with open space and enough room for two fronts of warriors to stand face to face / obstacles and a realistic battlefield environment are appreciated Teams: Two teams with each composed of 4 - 8 players
Respawn: No
The mode can end in one round or have multiple rounds to decide over loss and victory. The concept behind it should be a battle between both sides. The last survivor or surviving team wins the round. The game starts with both sides standing face to face and the teams lined up in a row. As the fight begins both teams will charge at each other and try to eliminate their opponents. Each player has to protect himself and his mates. Better teamwork and individual skill decide the game.
"Conquest"
This game mode could be a mix of the already mentioned Battle mode and dominion.
Suggestions: Players: 8 - 12
Map size: relatively big map like already in dominion but parts of it should be locked so players can't enter it until a victory over an area is achieved
Teams: Two Teams each composed of 4-6 players
Respawn: Yes but with a penalty until your team wins the fight or looses it or immediate respawn with restriction of an area you can move up to
The concept behind the conquest mode should be to conquer different areas but only one at a time. It should differentiate itself from the battle mode by being in smaller teams and being a bit more competitive. Each team has a base area and an outpost area and both teams "share" a middle / neutral area where the fight starts. Like in the battlemode both teams should start face to face in the neutral / middle area and fight over it until one team is completely eliminated. Dead players should respawn immediately but not be able to return to the fight (middle area), instead they can move up to their outpost area and have to wait for their team to win or loose the fight. The winning team now conquered the area in the middle and is continuously gaining points from it. The next fight will be again both teams against each other but now in the outpost area of the loosing team. All the principles repeat until on team is defeated in their base area. If teams are evenly matched it could be a back and forth fight over the different areas, so there is still the points gained from holding areas over time to determine victory.
