Excellent and interesting feedback here guys, and thanks for the positives on the videos.
I'm hearing a lot of love for the DT HTI, and you guys seem to like the M4 and Mk17, and clearly lots of you run with the 5.7 USG. Here's my simple preference for my SMG setup - again, this works well for me and you know I like big mags and I cannot lie!
BEST SMG CLASS?

I've used two loadouts. I actually prefer to play the LMG role, but the friend I started playing with had the same preference so I went with an MK17/M203 long range configuration and a P90 (also long range). Later on when I started playing with a task force I could slip back to my traditional playstyle/role and I went with a Stoner 61 and M4. FN Five-seveN was always my first choice as pistol.
While I would prefer using the Mk249 to the Stoner the lack of a suppressor makes the Stoner the only option for me. The Stoner lacks long range precision and has only a 100 rounds belt, but is still a solid option if you want to go with a LMG. You just need to remember to remove the suppressor when engaging vehicles (difference between 20-30 rounds to down a chopper and ~100). Un-silenced it is a good long range weapon against cars and helicopters as you get your 20 odd rounds quickly into the target and easier than a long range grenade launcher shot. With suppressor on you can clear a vehicle without blowing it up. For my configuration I didn't maximize neither accuracy nor handling, since I use the weapon short to mid range and I need both. I would though really wish for more scopes for LMGs.

The M4 is a great all around weapon and I see why many just use this one. You can get pretty much anything out of it from a heavy SMG-ish to a light DMR for this game. I need it to compensate some weaknesses of the Stoner, so a little quieter option for close and something to take out snipers at 250m. Its handling and ROF make it a strong option for CQB if needed, but I tend to stick to the pistol while cleaning out and Stoner for engaged situations. Still its a nice versatile option in my backpack.

The MK17 is a great weapon that can replace a sniper rilfe easily in this game. I was reliable with it up to 450m with it, it has a solid 30 round mag option, with AR-ammo numbers, high damage, it can have a M203 attached against vehicles and you can go full auto if needed. I used it mainly for long range and against vehilces, since I paired it with a P90. These two combined left me with no needs out there and it took me a while to switch loadouts. Since it has a low handling from the start and long barrel reduced it even further I went all the way and added all the heavy options (big mag, range finder, scope, M203) not trying to save any bit of the handling stat.

Many say the Vector is the best SMG, but for me those 25 bullets were a big issue. While stealthy it didn't matter, but once engaged getting into a firefight with 3 enemies and that high ROF the clip could dry up in the worst of moments. Mainly a personal preference, but up close I don't want to reload too often so that 50 round mag of the P90 was key for me. Also with a long barrel it was a quite precise option for up to mid range. I would say Vector, MP4 and P90 are very close and it is just a matter of taste. The noise reduction differnce is so small in this game that 2-3 steps forward cover most of the stat difference. I also used this one when going out with a sniper rifle as main. Basically a AR-lite if needed.

As said before I am a LMG-user and definitely not a sniper. Therefore I don't like to use them and in this game except for doing the challanges I don't see them excel at anything. Yes, some of them can one-shot vehicles, but a grenade or a short burst of a LMG does that too. 450m+ shots are quite pointless except to show off, since you can get a lot closer without being detected. Even at 300m you can snipe FOB without getting a response - and here ARs are as effective. Also the damge stat is quite useless since stealth means one hit always kills and engaged most SR can't kill with a single body shot anyhow (IIRC). So when I have to do the sniper challanges I go with the M14. It is a very versatile rifle, much like the MK17, and the actual difference come just with the different classes - meaning ammo numbers and weapon smith options as well as if it counts for challanges or not. If it wouldn't be about challanges I would pick the MK17, simply because of the amount of ammo, but at least I really like the G28 scope. It also has a very similar bullet drop like the MK17 making it easier for me. Big issue though the M14 doesn't have the firepower of other SR to justify the low ammo count. So taking it as a main weapon leaves it vulnerable to vehicles and long encounters.

My FN Five-seveN has been my main pick since I got it and I really miss it in the DLCs. The lack of damage is something that doesn't bother me, since I use it 99% in stealth mode. The 30 round mag means I rarely have to reload during a base cleaning (basically only if I have a hostage). The lack of damage is also compensated by the mag and high penetration. I don't care about the Lady Killer since it only adds damage, but I like the regular stats and being able to customize my 5.7.

These are just personal taste, opinions and experiences though. This game gives you very little reason to go with a weapon you don't like, since they all get the job done (mind I am not talking about Tier 1 right now since I've played it only a short while so far). You can mini-max and find the statwise 'best' weapon, but I am pretty sure if you go with the one you personally prefer your gameplay won't suffer one bit. I didn't care about stats and never got into trouble because of my loadout, only because of me doing something dumb![]()
I have stuck with the P416 purely because of the description. Having started paying more attention to the stats though, I can see the M4 is much higher: it's almost like the stats for those two weapons should be the other way round?Originally Posted by KingSpawn1979 Go to original post
I think I will try the M4 in place of the P416 and see how I get on.
Another great vid Lightwave, and also a nice description on your weapons of choice Biomag. I'm going to configure the P90 and give that a go as well.Originally Posted by LightwaveAl Go to original post
Funny, I had to specifically check to see what sidearm I've been carrying. Apparently the D50 (Desert Eagle) hand cannon has been at my side. I don't remember firing it in anger though, just been pointing it at bad people during the interrogations, intimidations, and extractions. Seems to have worked well in that capacity, lol.
Not many classes left. Time for the shotgun…
Do you use a shotgun, if so which one and in what circumstances?
