I'm in Australia, and despite the "high activity" label, matches can take a long time to find (especially Skirmish for some reason). If we could customise our heroes during the searching phase it would give us something to do in the meantime rather than stare at the screen blankly.
Shouldn't be too big a feature to implement, I've seen other online games allow it.
