Well to be fair, a four man team really shouldn't be engaging in a lasting firefight with a sizable enemy force. (i.e "Lone Survivor")
I can see Tier 1 mode forcing that reality on the player, that makes sense to me. One-shotting every single combatant and consistently out-gunning multiple enemy groups just doesn't seem very realistic to me.
Now having typed all of that, these artificial improvements to the enemy AI that video games typically make - such as simply raising their damage output and accuracy, and allowing them to absorb more hits from me - does ruin the fun. Suddenly an average Cartel gunman can sprint at my position, and because he can now absorb many more hits from my weapon, he can get close enough to one-shot me. That's not an increased difficulty mode, that's just the game bending the rules in its favor. When a gamer does that it's called "cheating", but when the game designers do that it's called "challenging mode".
From my experience, getting close and personal at all is a terrible idea. The stealth mechanics in the game are broken as is, so it can be difficult taking care of business. But, God forbid, don't go loud. Because for whatever reason difficulty in the video game realm involves making enemies unrealistically hard to kill, and gives them the accuracy of an infrared laser. I've been spotted in the most ridiculous ways, like being in a bush with a surpressor on engaging at 150+. It's mind boggling how the AI turn from relaxed to full on Terminators that from that point on know exactly where you are and can hit you with a .45 handgun 80 meters out. I'm only putting up with it for the LVOA C.
No. Just no. It is just cosmetical. Unfortunately.Originally Posted by drohungsc Go to original post
As mentioned, all clothing, acc's, etc. are for aesthetics only. Many of us would prefer that these items would make a difference in the environment (re: being detected), resistance to damage, etc. but unfortunately, they don't. ....unless you know something we don't?Originally Posted by drohungsc Go to original post
Initially I liked the challenge but it's gotten to the point where once sighted I'm dead and forget convoys. Playing with my wife trying to get a convoy we had to chase it for 10 minutes. While this was fun the first time it was enough to sour us on moving convoys. Tier 1 seems better suited to solo or full squad play.
While I may take the challenge to get to tire 1 solo I'm certain my wife is done with the game altogether out of frustration. I would have liked to see a new game plus that allowed us to reset the story missions while maintaining our levels/collectables. I still like the game very much but feel teir one increases everything to god like abilities for the enemies while leaving the player with minimum protection even in vehicles (better not hop in the gunner seat under teir 30!).
I was experimenting with different ways to take convoys out yesterday. I did about 2/3rds of tier 28 just collecting convoys and i think the most efficient way is actually to use double sniper. HTI BDC to take out escorts and MSR or slighly lower damage sniper to tag the truck and make it stop the take out or sync shoot the 2 enemies in the truck. If one of the enemies is on the far side of the truck you should be able to snipe his foot underneath the truck without damaging it. Just make sure you are ahead of the convoy when you start taking it on.Originally Posted by ROWEMEISTER Go to original post
Roadblocking the convoy and taking the driver out also is pretty efficient.
