    Ranked/Tournament Initial Feedback - From VERT32

    TLDR, this is for the developers.

    Pros:
    1. A new activity/goal to get player active.
    2. Tournament mode, at its base, is pretty cool.
    3. Receiving a ranking is good I guess, more so for those who define their enjoyment by their placement, but still sort of cool for players who just want good game-play.

    Cons:
    1. [Skip if you just want combat/ranked] The first and most noticeable flaw (to me) is the absolutely wasted time creating extremely cheesy "team names" and an absolutely cringe worthy commentator. I know this literally has nothing to do with the ranking or implementation but it's like producing a decent work product that is riddled with spelling and grammar errors. The worst part for me is knowing that this was an allocation of resources that could have gone elsewhere, maybe to addressing the many hero flaws that would be all to easy to address but are not. I don't know who provided initial direction or feedback on this but they are entirely disconnected with what the player-base wants in this game; and that is attention to poorly designed heroes (conqueror, orochi, shinobi, and centurion) and a legitimate fix to the defensive meta.
    2. The wait time between matches will drive most players away, and I mean most.

    Anticipated Cons:
    1. The impact of wins/losses on a players rank is currently unclear, but if it does not consider some form of a moving average and match frequency it's going to frustrate players.
    2. As stated above, although I didn't experience it as much as expected on day one of Ranked PTS, if the defensive meta goes unaddressed ranked will experience the same player drop off as the base game. That being said, this game does not shine in its duels but its 2v2 and 4v4; which leads me to my next concern.
    3. Mixing pre-made teams with PUGS will kill any 2v2 and 4v4 potential that there might have been. I recognize that this game probably doesn't have the population to support breaking these two groups up, but this will destroy the joy of ranked for both groups (primarily PUG players). Any competitive players in pre-made groups will loose interest in 2v2s and 4v4s if there is no competition; and that is the case for most any pre-made vs PUG match. This is already a problem in the current game, but will be exacerbated in ranked.
    4. I am unaware how 4v4 plans to be implemented but if it is implemented as tournament, similar to duel tournaments, the total duration of the tournament will be far too long to attract players. I can't imagine that this is how 4v4s will be implemented but I feel like I heard that somewhere.
    5. I have a number of other concerns that I don't feel like delving into.

    End Notes:
    I don't anticipate any legitimate consideration for the any of these suggestions but believe that these concerns are relatively shared across the dedicated FH popluation; and if they go undressed, I expect that FH will see a quicker exodus of players than it already has.

    I agree to everything of the previous post!
    In addition to that there should be a way of being able to reconnect to a tournament! I got kicked out of the tournamentfinal because of a (ubi typical) server error and wasnt able to reconnect / start a new tournament in that time. If you want to have a serious ranked system there should be a option to rejoin!

    Another thing is the matchmaking itself ....
    After my 20 placement matches i just got stupitly high enemys(me Gold III/ Gold IV with enemys Plat III or higher!)
    That shouldnt be in a serious rankedsystem especially in a 1v1-system where i got totally destroyed. If it was 2v2/4v4 and i had i higher mate i would undertand that but in a 1v1 such a difference is nothing more than a waste of time for the lower player(with this i was forced to stay in a round and see myself getting raped while i couldnt leave(because i would have lost even more points)

    Thanks so much for the detailed feedback! We definitely want to hear about these kinds of things since we'll be using them to make improvements for the final version. If you have other concerns you haven't yet shared, please do - we'd rather hear about them now during the test rather than later.

    Additions

    Heyho, here some more Additions:

    A big problem i have had was that i got matched with unranked people with 0Rep but most time with somebody with over 50Rep too, so i didnt get anything out of the wins vs the lower ones(1%, 2%) and in the final when i had to face the higher guy, i lost 14% at once!
    So there should be a system where u get ur points for the actual match, not for the overall, because getting easy 4% and then being forced to loose 14 isnt really cool.

    Overall this Test was fun and if many of the problems are getting patched/corrected im really looking forward to the rankedsystem-update! (i still hope for 2v2 ranked)

    Totally agree on the commentator part - hes funny at first but then gets pretty annoying and even unbearable if you lose an unfair match. As to rank gains - I believe that there should be some baseline amount of points you get for winning no matter what opponent you've got.
