I already know people are going to say Samurai didn't use shields, but they didn't fight Knights and Vikings either. I was playing Skirmish on Forest and saw a Samurai Captain with a Shield, and it made me realize that Samurai are the only ones without a Shield class. He/she could have a Shield and a Yari, or Wakizashi. I personally think this would be a fun class to play and would be very unique in his Faction.
Well they put a romanlike hero to the knight faction, so a pre-samurai era fighter is enterily possible. And before the samurai era japanes soldiers used shield much more often. (But technicaly there is a shield class for the samurai. The kensei, his "shoulderpads" (sode) is basicly a shield made for deflecting arrows and stuff.. Fun fact for nerds like me ^^)
I know the Samurai had shields called Tate, but they didn't carry them on one arm, they put them on the ground with a stilt, like Mobile cover. However, in For Honor, The Samurai soldiers and some Captains, use Shields. When I say "Shield Class" I mean like Warlord and Conqueror, not Kensei's massive Shoulder pads, although I love Kensei.
I think nobushi is designed to have a "shield flavour" with her hidden stance, similar to a total block stance, but i think we could have a shield samurai shield without shield.
We can have a katana - wakizahi, or "daisho" warrior using "full block" stance using both swords, or superior blocks attacks, much like WL or valk, blocking with wakizashi as he attacks with katana.
It would be a good and interesting hybrid class between WL and Orochi
I actually hadn't even noticed that the samurai were the only ones lacking a shield. Definitely an interesting suggestion!
