Allow a counter to same-time guardbreaks

I could whine about things I don't like about GB, but really there's one suggestion that would satisfy me. It's a minor change, and I think it's pretty reasonable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but currently if two players guardbreak at the same time, whoever happens to connect first succeeds. A lot of times this happens to me where I'll coincidentally gb at the same time as my opponent, but he succeeds and I have no chance to counter.

Allow us to CGB it if we happen to GB at the same time, OR make them negate each other so they both automatically counter each other. It would make the game seem way more fair, and it seems very simple.

At the moment they've introduced a patch that makes it so that people are supposed to bounce off each other if they guardbreak at the same time, but you're right, it doesn't really work as intended. It rarely actually causes you to bounce off each other. So it might just be an issue of expanding the amount of time the 'bounce off' is available for.

If they've introduced such a patch then it's a great step in the right direction, but I've played since the latest patch on PS4 and still frequently encounter situations where we GB at essentially the exact same time but one succeeds and the other doesn't. Perhaps they should expand the "bounce off" time as you say. Nobody is going to GB the same nanosecond as the other player, but in the same couple frames it happens all the time and they should bounce. Actually they should go in at the same time and butt heads like idiots then bounce back, that would be hilarious.

...it already works correctly. When two GB attempts collide, both parties are pushed back.

With no disrespect, just stating a common human condition, people really tend to remember things the way they want to remember, and anecdotes are rarely -- if ever -- accurate. That's why many people recommend to record your fights when you want to check on, or confirm something.

Then, how is it possible that you and the other guy GBd at the same time, but you got GBd first? Weren't you supposed to bounce off each other?

The Occam's Razor of an answer here, is that you only THINk you did it at the same time... and often what you think happened is different from what actually DID happen. The odds are, you didn't GB at the same time at all.

    He GBd you first.

The bounce off was introduced fairly early on I believe, but we have gotten reports, like yours, that tell us that it may not be working as intended. I'll submit a note along to the team to look over it.

I appreciate the pretentious attempt to negate what I said by misusing a philosophical rule of thumb to problem solving, but it involves no more presumptions to say that it isn't working as intend than it is to say that I remember it wrong. Maybe if I claimed that I lost every single time this happens that would be the case, but I also am the one to succeed in the same-time GB sometimes which I'm sure is equally frustrating to my opponent as their random successes are to me. Either way, if you press the GB button within the same few milliseconds of each other you should bounce off and sometimes you don't, as the moderator just noted they've been receiving several reports of. I'm glad that they're looking into it, that's all I really wanted.

I appreciate the response and I'm glad that it's being investigated. I wish I could easily record it and provide samples, but I'm on PS4.

Ehm, this is already patched a LONG time ago, gb used to work that way, now you need to press it AGAIN so if you are missing you are not doing it well.

You don't press it again. The community rep said that it was patched so that you bounce off of each other, and they're aware of reports that it may not be working as intended. Pressing the button again when you GB at the same time has no effect on the outcome.
