Dear Ubisoft,
Lately, I have been extremely frustrated with the turtle meta, and I have posted couple things in the general discussion forum. However here is an idea I have to address the turtle meta.
The stare down should be stressful to the heroes like in war, the fear of the unknown so to speak. Thus, if the player does NOT make any actions (Feints DO NOT count), their stress bar will slowly fill up.
Once the bar is filled, their Stamina will start to drain on its' own.
I don't know how viable this idea is, but we are in critical NEED to "force" players to start attacking. I have touched this in my other post where honestly, fighting Raiders has been really really fun for me. Because
#1 Most raiders are not turtles
#2 Thus I don't have to turtle
#3 The parries that happen in the game are no longer FISHED parries, they are legitimate parries that happens spontaneously.
#4 THUS THE MATCH IS FUN FUN FUN
This sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure that it will handle the defensive meta. Players will need stamina to attack, so removing stamina seems counteractive to encouraging players to attack each other.
Does it drain until no stamina remains?
Would a player want to attack if their stamina is low enough that their next attack would put them into an exhausted state?
Would a player not become increasingly defensive as their stamina drains?
If they no longer have stamina and have maximum stress, how would they lower their stress and restore stamina?
Would it affect players who are out of combat stance?
How would it handle players switch in and out of combat stance?
Something creative could be implemented to break up the turtle meta. It could help keep the flow of combat moving and create new strategies. How would it feel to block with a sheild? A few light attacks would maybe bruise your arm, take repeated heavy attacks and you might have a few broken bones. Though this applies to other characters without a shield like peace keeper. She is a small assassin and for an example say viking (raider) is repeatedly launching heavy attack after heavy attack and she's only blocking. She is going to feel the weight of those blows eventually and when that happens, will she be as fast to counter attack? I like the idea of stamina drain or something to break the turtles shell.
