    R6 Community Discusses - Yacht

This week's discussion will focus on the map Yacht. This series has been added to the R6 forums to facilitate discussions among the community involving map tips and strategy that often get buried or lost in the abundance of others posts that flood the forums.

The goal of this series is to not only give new players a primer on a specific map, but also for mid-level or competitive players a chance to share the knowledge that they have accrued in their experiences and maybe let people know something that they did not know before.

For this edition, we will discuss the map, Yacht!

    1) In your opinion, what is the best area of the map for defenders/attackers?
I would have to say that for defenders Casino for secure, Bottom floor for bomb and the room above Casino for hostage (Server?). Best for attackers would be the bridge for Secure, Crew quarters?(same level as kitchen) for bomb and the one at the bottom floor at the back of the boat for Hostage.

    2) Which Operators shine on this map? Which operators have you struggled with here?
Any defensive Operator is viable (unfortunately the Lord is an exception), but the ideal for any objective would be, Valkyrie, Smoke, Mute or Bandit, Doc or Rook and Jager. Some objectives can really help having a Mira or frost so feel free to swap them in for Doc or Rook. Attackers are pretty straight forward, Hibana/Thermite, Thatcher/Twitch, Montagne, Capitao or Ash and either a Blackbeard or Sledge. The only operators I have struggled with are Kapkan and Tachanka for defense (nothing new) and probably Buck as his gadget can't open up many floors and same as fuze.

    3) The camera placement, how well is the map covered by defender cameras?
Outside cams are shot as soon as they spawn so no very helpful, inside cams are the best in the game. Cover every corridor and are hidden in the frost.

    4) Objective placements, which is your favorite location? Least favorite?
I really like defending Casino and like attacking crew quarters for bomb.

    5) Which game modes do you prefer on this map?
Secure and bomb. but that's every map.

    6) Spawn locations. yay or nay on the current locations?
Yay on 2, Nay on 1. Don't recall what they're called but one of the spawns is often peeked with little cover.

    7) Has this map made you play the game differently?
Not being hunted down by heat-seeking hockey pucks is a nice change.

    8) Map layout, what do you think of the design of this map?
Very nicely designed, could argue for some more destructible floors to help attackers as this map favours the defenders (IMO)

    9) What is something that a new player should know when playing this map?
A lot of people play Caveira on this map so watch your six.

    10) What is your overall opinion of this map? Where would you rank it among the other maps in the game?
One of my favourites, as long as it's not hostage. Top 5 maps for sure.

    1) In your opinion, what is the best area of the map for defenders/attackers?

From a pure fun perspective, kitchen is my favourite to attack because of the many different points you can get in. I also feel it's the hardest to defend because you need every defender to co-ordinate what they're reinforcing if you're going to put up a solid defence. Casino feels easier to defend.

    2) Which Operators shine on this map? Which operators have you struggled with here?

I like to use Jackal on this map, with his SMG. You can easily track & trap the roaming defenders and the SMG is perfect considering the close quarters. Defensively, I always do better with Caveira on this map as you can easily predict where the attackers are going (generally it's only 1 of 3 ways due to the map's design) and wait for stragglers. I struggle with shields on this map against better teams - flanking is so easy and you lack the required maneuverability.

    3) The camera placement, how well is the map covered by defender cameras?

Very well covered - no suggestions here.

    4) Objective placements, which is your favorite location? Least favorite?

Bomb - favourite to defend is the engine room bit (can make easy ambushes). No preference on attack.
Hostage - The cafeteria/dining room bit. The fight can be above, below or around the objective, I like the unpredictability of where the attackers & defenders could focus.
Secure Area - Kitchen always give me the most fun and memorable fights on this map.

    5) Which game modes do you prefer on this map?

It's the only map I enjoy playing bomb. Mostly though I play secure area. Indifferent when it comes to hostage.

    6) Spawn locations. yay or nay on the current locations?

    They're just right.

    7) Has this map made you play the game differently?

It's been a really good map for close-quarters combat. High rate of fire, maximising damage and shotguns generally rule. You need to co-ordinate with your team though - you have no hope if you go five shotguns for example. It's also the only map I run attackers with shotguns.

    8) Map layout, what do you think of the design of this map?

I like the fact that the choices on where you can go are very limited inside. Your team's overall strategy on this map is a lot more important than your team's skill. As me and my friends mostly just play for fun and aren't that great at aiming, we do pretty well on this one.

    9) What is something that a new player should know when playing this map?

When defence chooses the Aklark sub room - I see way too often people try and camp at the back wall between dining room/sub room. If you have a Hibana or Thermite open the hatches above in bedroom, you're as good as dead if this is where you usually hide. As soon as it opens the attackers have very easy headshots from above, with such an angle that you don't stand a chance.

Similarly, if you do go there as defence you have to control bedroom. I feel that whoever controls the bedroom/bathroom has control over the objective room. Try opening up the walls between casino & bedroom to create angles where you can prevent those hatches being opened.

If you're attacking this room, try opening up the hatches yourself. If you use Hibana you don't even need to step inside the yacht. Standing outside the window, I open the furthest left hatch and normally get at least one free kill.

    10) What is your overall opinion of this map? Where would you rank it among the other maps in the game?

This is one of my favourite maps. A lot of people seem to dislike it, but once you think up your plan A, B & C it can be fun executing your strategy.

    1) In your opinion, what is the best area of the map for defenders/attackers?

Same as the first commentator. Because by crew quartiers there are only two sides to defend + only one hatch, that does not much. Good anker spots, nerrow hallways make it difficult to attack. Submarine room is dangerous because of the staircase and the two hatches above. Same goes for kitchen side. Roamers have many options to flank.

    2) Which Operators shine on this map? Which operators have you struggled with here?

Deffinitely not Fuze, because of the solid ceilings. But Mira shines here, Frost for some extent, Capitao (nerrow routes), Montagne (no C4 from underneath), Bandit (no vertical gameplay against the battery trick), not Blitz (long hallways), Glaz (nerrow hallways), not Buck (same reason as Fuze), Hibana (remote breach), etc.

Tachanka could be useful at this map, if

1.his shield could not be easily peeked

    2. Tachanka could have somewhat of a leaning ability at the MG, because leaning gives you better vision around corners and when the opponent doesnt lean you can see him sooner around the corner as him seeing you. Sorry, I am just repeating myself, but at this special map, because of the limited vertical gameplay options Tachanka could easily defended from vertical gameplay of course.

    7) Has this map made you play the game differently?

Yes, because the vertical gameplay is very predictable, (only hatches). Honestly, I like it. But the special sound and graphics effects on this map are sometimes very annoying. And the spawn points are bad. No cover like trees, cars, objects etc. There should be something that covers more of the route to the ship in my opinion. More icebergs perphaps?.

My main issues with the map are:

    A. sound effects

    B. snow effects (attackers suffer from it sometimes).

    C. spawn point to ship routes are absolutely open, makes aggressive spawn peeks/window jumps very effective

    D. The roamer can jump outside from the windows and will see all at same level outside. So, Val cam at outside floors at railings + Jager are cancer

Thanks for posting your thoughts guys!

    He4DSh0t93,

I agree with what you mentioned in #8, I too feel that matches on Yacht seem to focus more on overall strategic planning and execution than simply gunplay.

    Zoltan.PyroC,

Which spawn do you feel needs to be looked at most?

I really think that Submarine spawn could get some work so you can't get killed right when you spawn.

    1. Defenders: All except top floor. Attackers: Top floor
    2. All operators work well.
    3. I would like one more camera in the cockpit area and by the basement near the engine. Otherwise, I am good with them.
    4. Indifferent. Because I am fine with anything, except Cockpit. I mean, that is literally one sided for attackers to have the advantage.
    5. All.
    6. Good, but more icebergs would do for the snowmoblie spawn.
    7. Uh no. The only thing that makes me play this game differently is the players playing this game.
    8. Nice, lots of stairs and lots of access points, lots of floors, almost perfect. However, I wish that cockpit area could have more access to attackers and defenders to create a balance because if objective is on the top floor, attackers have a higher chance to win.
    9. Study it first before playing, this map is absolutely horrible if you do not know where to start attacking or defending. But once you do, it brings intense rounds and fun moments. This is also a roamer paradise and somehow, even though my love for her never ends, Frost is superb here.
    10. 9/10 only because of the top floor being too one sided. I managed to win rounds just because of breaking all windows in the top floor with Hibana and creating confusions. I even managed to pull multiple clutches with Ash/Hibana/IQ when objective was in cockpit mainly because of the multiple entries that defenders cannot cover at the same time.
