So basically, all this stems from an issue I have. I can't find any matches without it being set to "All regions, all skill levels".
I like to imagine that my skill level is so impossibly high that I can't find matches unless it's set to "all skill levels" but even then there's no reason I shouldn't find games in my own region with that.
(I'm being sarcastic. I play conq so my stats will probably be lower than average, haha)
So, why Ubi? WHY!?
Why must I wait a good minute or two before it even starts searching for a game I can join? Why doesn't it find anyone in my region? Why doesn't it find anyone at my skill level? Why does it sometimes not find a match at all when there's "low" for the amount of people playing?
Is your matchmaking just broken and crap or is there literally no-one playing that game mode in a region at certain times?
Obviously one of these is easier to fix than the other. If the matchmaking thing is broken then you just have to get into the coding and fix it. Stick it on the list and tell everyone it'll be done 'soon(tm)". They'll buy that and you can get round to it after the super duper defense meta patch.
If it's the lack of players... Well try a promotional campaign. A free weekend or a half-price deal. Get more players!
Because there is a dwindling amount of players I can see why matchmaking is pairing people up unfairly. Maybe we are just too good no one is up at our skill level? (Sarcasm)
I'm hoping that when a ranked mode is introduced that will be a lot more even with matchmaking.
My problem is that when I search for Skirmish or Elimination, even when it says "High Activity" after 20 minutes me and my friend did not find one match, after searching multiple times and getting an error at the end. I can't even complete the 10 honourable kills elim order, it's so frustrating knowing I can't even earn all this XP through no fault of my own.
To be fair, in a lot of my games people do seem to be about the same skill level. Perhaps it's because you either 'git gud' or die a lot and quit playing. It's the fact that the matchmaking can't pair people up properly that's the issue. It's the waiting times between matches that really just bores you until you quit. It doesn't help that after each game a lot of people leave and after you're lower than 50% of the player allowance you're just going to get kicked back to the main menu. If they just let that game re-join the matchmaking queue it would be a lot faster for everyone.
Luckily I've never had that error message on a 'high' or 'very high' player-count game mode.
I'm pretty sure it's not the dwindling player base that makes the match making so bad though. I mean, there's so many people in the world. Surely there's 8 or more people searching for one game mode at any specific time...
