After getting kicked off during a match for two days in a row (while I'm playing AI, no less), I've finally gotten angry enough to figure out my password again and actually post to this forum.
I've been reading reports lately (see http://us.blastingnews.com/gaming/2017/06/for-honor-a-game-that-could-have-been-at-the-top-001781377.html"]http://us.blastingnews.com/gaming/2017/06/for-honor-a-game-that-could-have-been-at-the-top-001781377.html and https://www.pcgamesn.com/for-honor/f...r-player-count) that For Honor is quickly bleeding out players, and it's due to several factors: the servers and the poor progression/ranking design.
Some of us have been playing since the Beta version, and I didn't buy any Valentine's Day presents because I bought this game instead, so I think I'm owed something. I'm one of those honest players who's been grinding for XP and steel for months, and all I have to show for it is a few ornaments for my Warlord (rep 5) and my Warden (rep 2). I'm a regular player; I also have a job and a family, so I can't just grind for hours on this game to unlock some new colors and ornaments. Here are some things you can do, Ubisoft, to make this right and attract some of these players (like me) back to the game:
* FIX THE F-ING SERVERS. Seriously. I have no idea how any of this stuff works, but it's also not my job.
* Award 2000 steel and a scavenger crate every time a player gains a reputation. (And award it retroactively, hopefully.) The most you can buy with those are one ornament or some crates because everything is way too overpriced. (7000 for executions? 15000 for outfits??? ANYTHING for Death Mist effect???!???) I get it; you want to make the game a challenge and keep us coming back. I'll keep coming back if I feel like my efforts are rewarded. And if you expect me to shell out ANY money for steel packs, see my first bullet point.
* Award more steel per match. I played 20-30 duels last night just to experiment with some characters. For 20-30 duels and about 2 hours of my time, I made 260 steel. At that rate, I can finally afford that sweet Thor outfit after 115 hours, or 4.8 straight days of playing. And I'd be OK with that if I could also afford a few other things in the meantime. But I measure every purchase I make in the game by how many hours it will take me to get back to where I started. If I wanted to measure every decision I made by how much work it would take, I could just keep working.
* Treat ranking up in terms of factions, not classes. I think every knight character I rank up should contribute to an overall total, so that I don't need to play each knight for 20 hours to unlock "Dry Blood" or the Phoenix symbol. These cosmetic changes are fun, but good lord, they are too much effort.
* Make the gear we want to get available to buy for steel. Can we please just buy the gear than go through the trouble of scavenger packs? I've spent about 3000 steel trying to find a Warlord helmet that doesn't have a fox's tail attached to it.
* Allow us to create and customize our own daily orders so that we don't have to wait 48 hours for them to reset. I meet daily orders quickly and then have to wait. I'd keep playing, but not to grind on duels to earn 260 steel.
For Honor is a great concept and a great game, and you are losing valuable players because you don't respect their time or efforts. I expect you to make some of these things right, or I will cease joining the battle, and I'm going to encourage my friends and colleagues to do the same until these issues are fixed. I would rather go to my backyard and give this game a Viking funeral in my pool than spend another 20-30 hours dueling to buy half a scavenger crate that doesn't have the stuff I need.
Thanks for your time, and I'm sorry to rant.
I find that by doing the orders you can accrue steel rather quickly, I've had times where I've had 17,000 steel and thought bugger it I'm going to by a shi!ttonne of scavenger boxes. It doesn't take that long to get a hefty pile of steel.
Going up a rep point and getting a scavenger box and some steel is a pretty cool idea though
first i know this is your opinion and im not trying to be disrespectful
second:
Man i laughed my eyes out...and I didn't buy any Valentine's Day presents because I bought this game instead, so I think I'm owed something.) You're now owed anything because buying this game instead of a valentine gift (witch in my opinion was a really dumb choice if you meant it literally) was totally your choice.
No matter how mutch of a gamer you are if you have a family and a job, then this game shouldnt matter that mutch. but you're entitled at being angered at Ubisoft.I'm a regular player; I also have a job and a family, so I can't just grind for hours on this game to unlock some new colors and ornaments.
Totally agreeable* FIX THE F-ING SERVERS. Seriously. I have no idea how any of this stuff works, but it's also not my job.
More than logical. they should have been from the start. there are so few rewards that really interest us on rep unlocking!* Award 2000 steel and a scavenger crate every time a player gains a reputation.
Yes. and i think they should increase the steal in some way that they keep count of ingame (match) kills deats and points earned* Award more steel per match.
Meh, dont know what to say about this. this is a part of "per charcter customization", so NO. Not really ok!* Treat ranking up in terms of factions, not classes. I think every knight character I rank up should contribute to an overall total, so that I don't need to play each knight for 20 hours to unlock "Dry Blood" or the Phoenix symbol. These cosmetic changes are fun, but good lord, they are too much effort.
Absolutely NO. then whats the point of gear drop? level your character by what you get from the battle. nut by looking at a list see whats the best gear and buy that.* Make the gear we want to get available to buy for steel. Can we please just buy the gear than go through the trouble of scavenger packs? I've spent about 3000 steel trying to find a Warlord helmet that doesn't have a fox's tail attached to it.
The best improvement to this (thats if they will increase the amount of steal earned per match) is to make it so that if today i miss mi 2 daylu orders (the main 2 ones) and miss them again tomorrow, and again tomorrow, they shoiuld stack up and after completing the 2 ones from that day, the others take theyr places. (or not both of them to remain, but at least one. so that in 2 days of not playing the tird day you have 4 main orders* Allow us to create and customize our own daily orders so that we don't have to wait 48 hours for them to reset. I meet daily orders quickly and then have to wait. I'd keep playing, but not to grind on duels to earn 260 steel.
Giving us steel after gaining rep is a great idea and will keep the current player base interested. While i don't feel Ubi has nickel and dimed us i do think they have cut corners to make more money. Fyi bro you can change the look of your gear for around 500 steel so get the stats you want then change the look
