What the heck?
I have had this happen twice now. The first time I let it go, but a second time now and o am confused. Last night before the event ended I had some time to play and raced my opponent. I was in 6th place and need .43 of a second to move up to 5th. I beat home on my 9th of 10 tries by .73 of a second. But didn't move up, my best time never changed and it said "1/10 tries remaining"? So I raced the same player again. Just now with the jackal in the new event, I was in 541 place and raced a new opponent. I beat him by over 3 seconds on my 4th try but my time never changed, I didn't move up and it says "6/10 tris remaining". ?????????.? What the hell? Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think happen ?

It could be a synchronization issue. Your device holds your old time and asks server for an opponent according to this old time when the leaderboard already registered your better time. So you beat your opponent's record but not yours.
Maybe logout/login can help. Or try to remember your time from the leaderboard and beat it without paying attention to the ghost. It's harder but can be done.

In some of the past events I was in the same situation too: Midnight Circuit: bug or hacker?

Hey Irish-man8, the server records tell me that you are currently on the 48th position (with a recorded time of 22.898 sec). I’m not sure why you’re still facing the retry issue. I’ll look into this and get back to you. Meanwhile, could you please confirm if you can now see your Midnight Circuit Leaderboard records correctly?
