Ok, this will be a rather lengthy post, so for the reading impaired, I apologize.
Ubisoft just implemented their "Rage quitter penalty" and aside from the connection issues that everyone seems to be having, here's why they are punishing their player base for their own inadequate game developement.
I've noticed that while rage quitting is a sore spot for the game, it's the actual MATCHMAKING that is making a good majority of the people salty. First, it takes anywhere from 2 minutes to some people taking 15 minutes to get into a match. Then, once they've found a game, it's usually some rep 10's against level 9 players. HERE is your biggest issue, one that brings out a lot of unnecessary salt. Why would anyone on the underdog team want to get curb stomped over and over?
I'm not talking about a difference of maybe 5 or 6 renowned ranks between the teams, I'm seeing games where the underdog is down by some 25-30 ranks. No where, in any game, is it fun to be completely and utterly outmatched. Im also not talking about running into the 4man team of elites. I'm talking average run of the mill matchmaking, where even the team that's got the numbers is going .... "uhhhh, this ain't fun" and "holy **** did they **** the other team over."
I'm sure you've all noticed the 30 second grace period, even if you've never left because I've had more games crash within the first minute since the quitter penalty was implemented and I'm quite positive after reading these and other forums that I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Now, your AI dominion mode doesn't even work. If you by chance happen to fill a group, and you find a match ( keep in mind, vs. bots) you get kicked when you get close to 900 points. I've seen this happen on several occasions. And since that mode isn't working, you've got people who need the practice playing bots on lower skilled classes going against experienced top tier classes.
So essentially, you've screwed any new player who is trying to learn your amazingly flawed game, and at the same time, instituted a penalty before fixing the problems on YOUR DEVELOPERS end. Your punishing people while taking absolutely NO time to correct your mistakes.
Now, while this does have quite a bit of talking down to Ubisoft, I only bring up these points because I DO LOVE THE GAME. I can get past or work around most of the other things that people *****, moan, and complain about. Roaming centurion / shinobi parties? Choose a dodgy class and learn the kick timings. Flicker abusers ( we all know that 1 or 2 flicks in a match could be an accident, but when the ONLY thing your hitting me with is flicker.... well) can be dodged or parried if your expecting it. Don't like ledges or environmentals? Don't fight near them( the 2 for 1 ledge deaths are pretty ****ty tho, I must admit).
When a match is balanced, and you happen to make it through a game, it's a tremendous feeling to come out on top, especially if you've done anything that's clip worthy (going 4v1 when breaking and still winning is better then any drug). Unfortunately , this is almost never the case when it comes to this game. You have the people that leave, you have DC's at a rate that's simply unheard of in 2017, and eventually almost every game turns into who has the least bots.
To boil this entirely too long post, while it may not be the cure all for the game. I believe that maybe, JUST maybe, if Ubisoft could make matches more consistent, you would have less salt on the battlefield and you would see a lot more matches of full games being played through to completion. Instead, you've penalized your community and in doing so, have created a whole mess of side arguments that could have easily been avoided had you put out a complete game, instead of this open test server that we are all currently playing.
Also, FIX YOUR DOMINION AI matches. I don't play them too often, unless I'm on a lowbie toon. But sometimes I don't want to pay attention and watch what little streamers you guys have left play. And I know plenty of people who only play vs bots because; 1) WAY less salt if your just stomping a bot and 2) you wouldn't DC nearly as much because people weren't leaving and instead of 8 people being a compromise to the match being dropped, you only had 4 people to worry about.
