You should consider implementing a safe to leave option for a couple of reasons that I will list below
I've had experiences where players on my team have left for whatever reason and now I'm stuck playing with bots vs skilled players. I shouldn't be forced to play and die and lose because someone else left. Give a time table where when someone leaves you have the option to leave as well. The intial person still gets hit with the leaving penalty, but now the rest of us can join a new game.
I had a game just the other day where despite our team getting destroyed I stuck it out and played it till the end, but guess what the game never timed out and we all got stuck in the zoomed out section of the map with no victory screen. The game just didn't end despite being over. After waiting for about 5 mins I quit the game only to be given a 10 min penalty.
if MLG games like dota 2 can implement it I don't see why For Honor can't
I believe that this system is extremely flawed in the sense that the penalty is given for non competitive game modes. Sure the ranked scene is in beta, but that's where the penalty should lie. When I join a game full of smurfs and get ganked from start to finish of a match, that just ruins the whole experience for me. Yes I will rage quit, but not because my team is about to lose a close game, because my team is getting slaughtered from the very start of the game and it finishes without us breaking 300 points in dominion. If you want to have a poor system of a guaranteed 10 min penalty for every early quitting of a match, you should have a vote to surrender or something along those lines. I could also see that the penalty would be justified if the player wasn't replaced by a bot immediately, but they are. Just overall, the system is a huge flop in my opinion. The player base is not fantastic as it is, and I don't blame players for shutting down the game completely to play something else that doesn't involve a 10 min ban for leaving a game. The first time I quit a match and saw that I got the penalty for leaving one game ever, I was dumbfounded. It should at least be a system that punishes repeat offenders, or just build up. Just because I don't want to spend 10 to 15 minutes of watching my character get decapitated because I keep getting gang banged by the whole team doesn't mean I should be banned from all multiplayer modes. And there's another idea, restrict the penalty to the one game mode that the player quit. It just boggles my mind how a triple A title developer can think such a system could be a good idea for unranked game modes. But then a gain, it is Ubisoft.
