    boarding ect.

I want real time boarding too, not for the seer awesomeness of hacking my sword, axe or knife(knifes and axes were way more used that swords, at least by the crew) but for the only right reason I think they should add it.

it takes time to board a vessel, you need lots of time to do that and all the time you do it (in game time is probably minutes) in that time other ships can bombard you or board you ect.
there was this navy battle on the cost of the netherlands where sometimes 5 ships were boarding each other creating a land battle at sea.

I do think you should be able to (upgrade) train your crew in one on one and boarding so you might actualy try that as a valid way of taking ships even being able to use it during battle or selling it at a port

I think as much realism should be applied as long as it still remains a fun game to play as I said in my previous post (i'll repeat my wishlist below) it's not a simulation.

As a person who lives is Middelburg (the seat of the VoC, it later moved to Amsterdam) I'm very happy this game is being made!
First of, thanks for the great work.
Below is a wish list of features that I would love to see incorporated in the game. I hope it will be more realistic than black flag without it becoming a simulation.
if you want to contact me on how to incorporate these ideas or to ask me anything VoC related (i'm no scholar but a history buff) i'm open to that. I do however realise you have lots of good people working for you so I understand if you don't.

    • Ship capture
    • Ship customization (almost prg like but within the historical limits) better sails, stronger hull, more cannons, bigger cannons ect.
    • ship salvage
    • pvp bounty system
    • ability to become a privateer
    • trade, being able to live as a honourable tradesperson.
    • Dutch voices for the dutch/VoC crew (I'd volunteer as voice actor )
    • hostilities between the Dutch/VoC and English and other countries based on the ingame diplomacy
    • authentic sailersongs
    • semi realistic boarding

Anyway thanks for making this game!

I mostly agree and would add that for customization it would be good to have something as in for honor which specialise but not op the ship for it will be for ever fun to battle anyone.
I would also love more than stats customisation, look customisation.
I think real boarding with the time and the risk of it should exist as it's a risk you take with great reward (new ship) to board so you should be able to be sunk by the time or to change ship at the end if you took heavy damage and let your ship sink or as it is when you win it repair you a bit as a reward.

I'm pretty sure that the teams are working hard on that. We'll have more details about the game in the coming months so let's wait and see.

I would say to temper your expectations when it comes to boarding/land combat. This isn't a massive budget game like Assassin's Creed - it's a smaller title which is strictly focused at captaining a ship. Having players and NPCs able to move around independent of their ship and combat one another adds an exponential level of complexity to the design which would be incredibly difficult to support in a large scale multiplayer setting. Also consider how exposed you'd be with that type of boarding - you'd basically only be able to do it in 1v1 situations.

Cutscene boarding could also be governed by the 'RPG' system they briefly mentioned - allowing you to skill up your crew to board better/faster, maybe defend against boarding etc. Personally I prefer this more streamlined approach, so I can spend more of my time captaining in larger-scale battles.

Yeah sure but you don't casually board a ship for five seconds, it even takes time to detach/set sails

This game reeks of arcade piracy.

Not what we wanted. It looks great at what it does but that isn't enough. At the very least, leaving the wheel should be an option. Disappointing.

    Hey there !

I can understand your feelings even if I'm not agree with you. The only thing I can say is to check the social medias for more details. The team will announced more details about the game in the coming months.

It's still a game you cannot make a game which would be like multiple games in one.

Yes I did and even sank all the legendary ships but it was really simple and so arcade all sea and ship mechanics, compared to some sea dogs/pirate of the careabeens or Naval Action it's child play
