As someone who is only just about to reach max level, all I will say is expect to do most of the lower missions and encounters solo.

I can't comment on the history of the game,, but I have enjoyed the game so far.

Personally, the game got much better after level 30 for finding other players. You also open more worlds and gameplay options. I started getting bored around level 26.

How is the connectivity? Is there anything a completely new player should know if he'd get the game right now? Or is it too late to join (in terms of too steep learning curve)?

I've pre-ordered For Honor Gold Edition but I started playing it just 2 or 3 weeks ago, lol, and I find multiplayer to be far too difficult for a newcomer. Having to learn the game by playing againts bots has no real purpose so it all comes down to having get demolished really badly by players and just use that to learn the game. Is it the same for The Division? Are only the hardcore players left, making it difficult for new players to "accommodate" in the game?

    Thanks!

edit: I might've asked a similiar question regarding the game's state over half a year ago but right now, after going through the For Honor hell, I became more confident

edit2: I've gotten my questions answered.
To learn your toon effectively, all you have to do in For Honor is, group up with a friend and duell, or duell against bot lvl3. Once done, move to duell PvP or Elimination. YOu loose a lot but you will learn. Best way to learn to counter toons that give you a hard time, play those toons like you want to play them. Learn what they can do, in this way you can counter them.
Sorry to say, but if you want real PvP, For Honor is the place to go. If you want chicken dance and griefing and depression because of abismal drop rates and because of changes every update that makes all your hard earned stuff useless, welcome to the Division.
Since I uninstalled, I am looking aaround the forums to see any improvement. None so far.

Not true, yeah they may nerf gear sets that op but atm there are alot of viable builds available. Also chicken dance is a thing in the past now on console, can't comment on pc though.

It's been 2 weeks now that I started For Honor, despite owning it since release and I gotta say it was one of the toughest online games to learn mainly because of the opponents. I played a lot in beta and that was too different, especially due to nobody using feints. Right now, 1v1s are just mind games and about who makes a mistake. It's not really appealing to me as it used to before release but I still bit through it, played againts bots untill rep1, then got my gear and played a lot of Skirmish PvP and Dominion PvP - at those I do well. But no so much in duels, in fact I despise those, lol.

What happens now, I don't know, but I don't trust Massive. As a casual gamer, I needed a while to get the build I liked (thanks to abissmal drop rates). The builds I liked weren't even top, but I liked them. And until 1.6 every damn update made my build stupid and I had to refarm, and once I farmed my favorite, the next update came a few days later, and I had to start from scratch. Doing the same mission over and over again. When 1.6 hit, I had enough. So everything I state is only until 1.6
However, I won't come back, because I simply lost trust in Massive. It might be different now, but that's something the new folks enjoy, or the ones who had enough stamina to stay since beta until now. If it really is better now, I am very happy it is enjoyable for the remaining folks and the new ones to come, but I can't loose a single good word about Massive, because of my subjective experience.
I really do hope, the game is better now. At least for the sake of the people who had enough stamina to stay with this community and the game. They deserve it.
    Cheers.

If you don't have a buddy in For Honor, add me (on PC though). I am below avarage. We can spar a bit. I also have a buddy (got to know him in The Division) who is realy, and I mean really, good. He does give quite a bit of his time to help me train defense and counter GB. I guess he'd be willing to do the same with you. We also have a small private TS, so if you are on PC and need some training, add me and we can spar a bit.
I never thought I would like another UBI game, since the Division 'massive' disappointment, but I learned to love For Honor. I have only two other mates to play with regularily, and it is more fun to play with buddies, so one more would be perfect. Even loosing is more fun with mates.

Well if you're a casual gamer I can see why getting your gear ripped to shreds would be a problem but they did nerf sets because they were op. But I understand where your coming from especially pre 1.3 when gear was hard to.come by.

That really is the issue though isn't it? The Division caters for 'professional' gamers. A massive percentage of the casual players have been forced out. The OP clearly isn't a professional gamer so stating that the game is in a good place and he will thoroughly enjoy it is being dishonest. If he isn't good at PvP he will have a miserable time in the DZ, Survival (PvP) and Last Stand.

The campaign was the best part of the game and frankly it should have just been left at that. Wasted potential perhaps, but everyone's experience up to that point was fantastic and would have left everyone clamouring for The Division 2.

The end game and Massive's abysmal handling of the DZ has lost Ubisoft a customer for life in me. I will NEVER buy another Ubisoft title and before The Division I would most certainly have bought Wildlands, Watchdogs 2 and the next FarCry title. Ubisoft have most definitely lost my custom for at least three other games because of Massive's handling of this one.

That's some valuable input there, I've read what people say about DZ almost a year ago and I always got that typical feeling which could easily be defined as being simply unbalanced.
However, I feel almost heart broken now, what is it that makes me a "not professional gamer" I got into For Honor 3 months after the release, when there were no other than high reputation players, if I only wanted to have some casual, time-killing fun, I'd have quit after the first few days of constant deaths. The only way to learn the game was to get killed by immensely more skilled players who simply had a lot more practice. 3 weeks later and I stayed in to learn the game and I dare to say that I do well enough.

Therefore my point is that I am not, even in the slightest, afraid of tough competition, I was more curious as to if there is enough players to go around, to do activities and to simply get by in PvP. Hoping that it's not a wasteland after all this time it's been out and that it would still feel somewhat alive. I got those questions answered, thankfully!
