Why so many people complaining about defensive meta?

    I'm a PS4 player, and I'm curious what's the defensive meta is
In my duel or brawl experience, my opponent usually do attack
we may not attack continuously but we do attack
they will feint to bait my parry, heavy attack, light attack, GB...etc, and so do I
If they parry my light, I'll change my tempo, like doing feint or doing heavy to bait them it's a light
I don't know if these are so called "defensive meta"
in fact, I pretty like these gameplay style, instead of PK or shinobi just spamming light/zone and dodge out
pretty hard to handle light spam on console on TV

or the "defensive meta" on PC is different from what I said?
then what's the defensive meta is like? I really wanna know~

and I'm really worried about induce more chip damage on console
hope that would not make another light-spam hell

The 'Defensive Meta' as I understand it is the state that exists in the game where it is a far better option to defend and wait for an opponent to attack, giving you a parry or a move that takes advantage of the stagger your opponent suffers when you block their attack, or giving you a chance to do a dodge move that is easier to land once your opponent has committed to their attack.

Attacking puts you at a disadvantage against someone who is good at capitalzing on the windows of opportunity that your failed attacks give them, in other words.

I don't really Duel and it's not really an issue in 4 vs 4, so I can't really comment on how common it is. If you haven't encountered it much, be happy

The Defensive Meta means, that defensive tools are much stronger than offensive tools.
So playing defensive has much more advantages than playing offensive.

Me and many other did some thread to this topic.
here is my last on: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...-good-solution

If you want, take a look, i also listed defensive and offensive tools there with their dis-/advantages

Also, chip dmg does only comes from heavy attacks, so light spam will not be easier or more dangerous than it already is

Its issue only on pc where game is a lot more reachable in 60fps than console 30fps. On pc peoples are able to constantly parry pk zine on reaction (fastest attack in game). Even on mediocre lvl u can meet players partying your all attacks, its not playing, just waiting who attack first, parry punish repeat

What he said. On PC people regularly parry even light attacks.

All they do Is throw GB and feint into GB til you throw an attack, and they parry it and your off...

Mhh actually normal people on pc dont parry lights at all, i do it but im a exception (because of the winrate and top score)

Defensive meta its a problem with chars that dont have any way of open up the other player, they become just a simple as heavy feint + attack or grab and thats really reactable, and if they make a attack the enemy can just dodge or parry.

Thats why the top meta picks on 1vs1 are chars that have 500 ms lights, a cc opener, different mixups so they arent as predictable and good punish on almost every action.

    warden, warlord, shinobi, etc

raider could be there since he has a soft feint that can bait parrys (so he have a really wide mind games) but his attacks are 600ms (lights) so every top tier player can do parrys vs him almost all of the time.

Same with lb, shugo, and nobushi. As soon as you light, parry > gb > ledge. GG match closed.

lb and shugo dont have soft feint, nobushi has light + hidden stance + light but its too slow to call it a soft feint.
