I started as raider, lb, and shug but then I got my hands on characters with lighting fast guard switch and I haven't been able to go back. I'm excited about the change but I do fear a few things that may come of this. Cent who has the ability to kill half the cast with two light parries has just become far more dangerous than before with this. It was a huge downside to his kit and also what made his 500ms lights more manageable than PKs and valks.
This is also going make the turtle meta even stronger since lb, raider, and shugo can get some of the best damage off of light parries. We will have to see if the costs out weigh the benefits but I sort of wish they would have just made everyone's guard slower rather than as fast as wardens.
I agree that it's going to be a buff for already-broken characters, but it was something that needed to be done.Originally Posted by Antonioj26 Go to original post
I hope this means Lawbringer/turtling nerfs are on the way.
Good on you, however the majority of people who play LB are insufferable losers who use nothing but their 50/50 and then spam emotes after cheesing you to death.Originally Posted by The_B0G_ Go to original post
Oh the shove and light attack, yeah I fought LBs like that. I tend to not use those greasy type strategies, I was dying to try Cent when I first seen him, after seeing how cheap he is I have no desire at all to be a part of it. I was rep 10 LB by the time he got his buff.Originally Posted by BeefMan_ Go to original post
Ty for the feedback. It's a pretty big change and we're going to be watching how it affects all the different interactions and matchups so we can make changes if we see it's needed.Originally Posted by Antonioj26 Go to original post
I think it's going to be worth the small time that it "buffs" defensive play. Since the defensive meta nerf patch should be just around the corner for us at this point.
Also even though cent is getting a faster guard switch speed it's still not going to make his lights any better. they are far too telegraphed. Good players will always parry one from neutral.
Less than good players like myself always parry the second thrown one. The real benefit will be he'll have an easier time with light light spam.
Though as he currently is using a monitor and 3 dead zone I was able to keep up with both shin and pk lights (more shins than pk's) rather consistently in the 4 hours that I played on a monitor.
So it was perfectly doable on console before this change if you had a monitor. Now it'll be even easier.
I don't see it doing much for shugoki. Other than I guess parrying light spammers. Still won't make him better V good players though.
Was the patch today? I thought it was next week for PC and then an unannounced date for console. If you are talking about the one on console today that's not the patch that changes the guard timingOriginally Posted by TSCDescon Go to original post
