    Midnight circuit - The lift

No threads on this one yet(?)

So we're racing with 1/1/1/1 Armadillo or something? Feels sooo sluggish

It's ok as long as all players ride the same bike's upgrade level.

As for the times, try bouncing the rear wheel on the start bumps and use the swing start momentum and jump from it. Then on the lift try to keep minimal height by leaning forward before the lift reaches its highest point. Then land your rear wheel on the first 1/4 of the rope bridge and bounce from it while keeping minimal height. Slide the last two hills.

I ran it once, the game crashed and now it says it's unavailable. Tried the usual fixes... but no joy

i think they did a good metaphor here...

at this moment the game is as wrecked as the 2/2/2/2 'dillo we're given to ride

Thanks for the tips. Got some 0.5 seconds shaved off my time just by doing the rope bridge landing that way(ish). Got me to 6% at this point. Not that I really care about the ranking since the rewards will be most likely something useless to me

I'll kick off a video discussion. Here's a semi-decent run, currently in top 3%. I see small area to tighten it up, but looking for real improvements. These seem to be the core areas:

Getting off the lift at the right spot.

Hitting that first bump without too much air. Often the rear goes too high coming off it.

Going just over the lip so that the front tire hits the platform first.

Reverse on platform and gun it at a certain spot.

Gassing up to a certain spot on the fall-away hill. Gas up to top and hit brakes? Gas half way like I do?

When to let off gas on flip board and where to land. IMO, get the best results letting off gas half way, flipping, and landing at the beginning of the bridge. Then the bounce carries you into the valley.

Tight crawls up next two hills, letting off gas near top.

Any I miss? Any where they can be improved or done differently?

[edit:] I've since tightened it up a bit, from a 26.830 to a 26.665, which is top 2% now. Same routine. I've found to not gas at the first bump, just tap over it to keep from getting in the air, and then wheelie out of it. Still undecided on the flip board, rather to stay halfway and land at beginning of bridge, or try to find a way to power over the bridge.

I just hit 26.124 without any extreme technique. The 1st half of the track seems to be the critical section.

At the start, I find it unnecessary to reverse...keep it simple, wait until the platform drops below a certain point and accelerate. It's easy to do with just a few attempts (just hit reset to try it a bunch of times in a row). Timing the reverse/accelerate is much more difficult and doesn't really give you much (if any) advantage. FWIW, I hit accelerate just after the platform drops below the level of the horizontal girder.

Hit the first bump with your front wheel in the air and sort of roll over the bump. Keep your back wheel as close to the ground as possible and accelerate once you clear the bump.

Just before the wagon wheel (0:14 in your video) you should have enough speed to go airborne. Lean back, do a little slide and front flip over the wheel, making sure your front tire doesn't touch the wheel (but barely clears it for maximum distance). If done right, you should land on your back wheel on the upslope just after the checkpoint.

I do this differently, and find it gives a more reliable way to quickly launch off the swinging platform. Gently lean forward and accelerate up the slope. When you get to the top, lean hard forward to get as much height (and forward distance) as you can manage. Land on the swinging platform (hopefully beyond the mid-point) with front wheel first at a relatively steep angle, and then execute a bunny hop to launch over the boxes and toward the exploding plank.

I haven't figured out the best way to approach the lift. For now, I take my thumb off the gas about 3/4 of the way along and lean forward. The reason I stop accelerating is to hit the plank bridge with my back wheel *before* the midpoint of the bridge. This seems to allow a 'bounce' that maintains forward momentum into the final big valley.

In the big valley I don't do much of a slide because it really depends on a clean exit from the bounce off the bridge (also, not skilled enough to do it consistently). The 1st small valley I try to do a slide that takes me to the 2nd (and final) small valley. In the 2nd valley I find it easier to hit a more aggressive slide to the finish line. Always trying to keep air time to a minimum, of course.

Of all the techniques I describe, I'd say that the front flip over the wagon wheel and the quick bunny hop off the swinging platform yield the biggest time savings.

Totally disagree...this is one of the few places in Trials where competition is (almost completely) fair. The fun is when you hit that sweet line or execute that perfect maneuver — skill is rewarded regardless of how many tracks you're missing or how many bike upgrades you've completed.

This is an exercise in fundamentals. If you can learn to run this track well it should give you the foundation to run any track well.
