Connection still isn't perfect but it has been getting better, they have said more than once it is a thing they are constantly going to be working on.
As for have the devs abandoned it, this game has been patched at least four or five times since february, a lot of games wouldn't have a single patch in that time. They have worked on bugs such as the unlock unparryable BS people were exploiting, they are working on bugs like flicker and when it was found out on saturday that there was a one hit kill bug, likely found because people had lost the 'tech' they were using as a crutch, they had people in the office, were communicating with us and had it fixed by tuesday. Speaking of communication, they also do a weekly stream with the issues of the time and a Q&A section and they do a weekly newsletter, so the devs are fairly active,as well as this, community reps are in here every night and they pass along feedback, ideas and concerns to the devs. The game is not in a perfect state but it is getting better week by week, month by month.
It is not like I am a developer myself but lets go on with simple logic right?
There should have been implementation of "new user experience" by now. There are some complaints about balance issues etc on this thread and I see where they are coming from but that is like 5 steps ahead of basic problems right? You can fix things for years and then you will still don't have a balanced game - like most cases.
But on the other hand, the approach to new user experience cannot be ignored. If you are not planning how the new players gets in to fray with veteran players you will have people refunding or quitting after coupe of hours. It is an abysmal experience that you pay to endure. I am perfectly sure at least 90% of the newcomers are impressed with the game. The engaging mechancs, beautiful models, impressive animations then they get to multiplayer and all goes to hell because they will not be able to land a hit and get rekt over and over and over again because they are facing people who have mastered every kit in the game since they have been playing it for ages.
Where is the "training phase" that new players match new players in which they learn basic mechanics in action? I mean game had a great start on that. You had videos in game that explains combos, basic and advanced - bots to try things out. After that, it is abandoned.
This is one of the things you can't miss in a game like this.
On other subject of basic connection issue. Look - I get it. They don't want to invest in dedicated servers. We were all hoping so when we bought the game but there were no promises right? I don't critize them on that (even though I think its a big f u to your player base). I am not talking about peer to peer lobby structure being problematic. I am talking about MOST BASIC stuff like something you experience every game. You kill someone and they just leave - which pretty much screws up the whole experience for everyone since that players SOMEHOW cannot be replaced by another player and you are left with bots. I know they can't force people to stay in game but how about punishments there?
This is something we have been talking about SINCE ALPHA. I am not talking about changing something like netcode - I am asking for most basic system that needs to be in the game since 1st day in order to bring some kind of order to abandonment issues. Look at Overwatch, if you leave you are penaltized so heavily because it is a competition game. If someone leaves everyone is screwed out of their game. If they want to ragequit, fine - ban them from getting in other games for a while make them only replace people who left other games for example. If they stick out for that for 3 games then let them back in normal queue. Or don't even let them queue at all if you can't do that.
Don't get me wrong - I am pretty sure they are able to think of these issues better than us. But the subject comes back in to play again - even though players said what needs to be done and devs know what needs to be done, the project is abandoned. Left only new devs behind to bring you "4-5 times since Feb".
The issues I have been shocked to see to be still in game shows those 4-5 patches were poorly done and patching a fallen limb - which in a long run does not save anything.
After I posted here, I went to see steam comments and see if people were affected by these basic problems like I did since I came back couple days ago and rating of the game answered that.
Recent Rating : 35 out of 100
I believe it is the point you say "RIP".
If the developers are somehow working something that will make this project rise from ashes again - it is time to talk about it. I went throught web and couldn't find any. They should look what r6 and projects like warframe done over last years.
Really sad to see.
