Dishonored 2 I think had this really cool feature where you could basically customize the difficulty setting by setting a base difficulty level but then also switching on/ off various conditions. Things like detection indicators, on-screen prompts & the like. Mayhaps something like that would work well for FC and a gun jamming on/ off switch could be one of the options. However I think it the jamming is toggle-able, they probably wouldn't even bother doing it so many players griped about it when FC2 came out that I don't think Ubi will ever revisit the idea even though honestly it has been the only significant advancement in depth to FPS gunplay in the last 10 years that I can think of.
The problem with FC2 gun jamming was it happened way too often. In a realistic world, gun jamming is rare. If you pick up a weapon off the ground it would be fair game to jam but not the ones you buy at the store. But gun jamming every time you are in a battle gets old fast. Just like the instant re-pawning of AI at intersections in FC2. Or the constant wild animal attacks in FC4. One eagle attack, maybe... but not 5 times in a row. Too much is too much and becomes quite irritating. All that being said, if you can toggle it on or off would be the best idea.
I agree the jamming was far too frequent in FC2. I would love for it to come back, but it should be less common. I think it was poorly balanced in FC2 and with the addition of malaria it became understandably frustrating. I think the malaria sort of did the same thing as jamming, except that it could happen at any time not just gunfights, so it was just another layer that with how often jamming was happening, both systems combined became even more frustrating. I think if they brought back jamming and re-balanced it and provided you with more opportunities to stave the frequency of jamming off, it would be far better received....Originally Posted by AKAFootloose Go to original post
I swear there was an algorithm that made your weapons jam at the most inopportune times! haha. I remember being on that mission where you have to go up into that village of mud huts back against a cliff face, and I was rockin' the USAS, and I that sucker jammed on me early on in the fight so obviously things only got worse from then, scrapped my way out in the end with the mac-10... so glad at least one of those is making a comeback in this one... still got my fingers crossed for a beastly new shotgun though, if they have the USAS or AA-12, I'll be in heaven...Originally Posted by Sabotur Go to original post
I loved it and would like to see this in Multiplayer because no matter how good someone might be or how much of a host advantage they might have if their guns jam then the other guy stands a better chance so even lag switchers might occasionally get whats coming to them.
Seriously I have never known gun jamming in a PvP game it would be very interesting indeed.
I don't think it was that popular though so can't see it been in Far Cry 5 unfortunately.
I'm all for the gun jamming feature as well. Having the dart gun blow up in my hands, many times, wasn't a good feature, but that's life in the wild, if one doesn't take care of their equipment.Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
Gun jamming in multiplayer is a very very bad idea. if dice added gun jamming in battlefield there would be uproar, if treyarch, infinity ward or sledgehammer games put gun jamming in cod multiplayer there would be uproar. the only reason to add gun jamming to a multiplayer game is if you wanted to drop the player community from 100000 a day to 100. it would kill it dead.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
Yeah but COD is just that is does not change the formula that much (sure it has the Advanced Warfare with changes that a lot didn't like) and Battlefield is what it is again it does similar stuff.
So the Far Cry Instincts Series had weapon and health placement, evolution power ups, you could duel wield some weapons, could go prone and even knife attack under water and there was ziplines plus 12 vehicles in any MP map. 16 Players online with lobby and hosting options - could run as dedicated and could set the game as teams or 2,3 or 4 if you wanted. 5 game modes.
Far Cry 2 took all that away and brought in a weapon class system, brought in healing yourself or healing other players - took away knife kills in water and going prone and the power ups and massively slowed the pace of the game down but kept similar game modes and 6 vehicles in MP mode. 16 players online with hosting options and could set to dedicated host 4 game modes.
Far Cry 3 tried to have a slice of the COD pie and brought in perks, the barrel bomb drops and other things you could call in - also the kill cam and the Battle Cries oh and they took out some of the good MP modes and gave us some with shared spawns and left out vehicles - and for User Created Maps no gun turrets or ziplines. Dropped from 16 players to 14 on console and 18 on PC. 4 game modes.
Far Cry 4 gave us the attack defend where you change sides and play for one session as Rakshasa who can go invisible, use blink arrows, call in animals, use flowers to get speed boosts and can ride elephants only. With Golden Path using conventional weapons and vehicles - both teams could use wingsuit, only one game mode was straight forward the others were turn based and 10 players. Huge uninteresting maps. 3 game modes with a 4th one OVERRUN coming as DLC which was dead on arrival. (I bought it played it and never managed to see one player in that mode)
So the difference is that no one knows what Far Cry multiplayer is because it changes so drastically with each new game in the series, it has never been a game like COD or Battlefield where you know what you are going to get because they also come out with MP info well in advance.
Montreal did FCIP and FC2 and Ubi Massive Entertainment did FC3 with Ubi Red Storm doing FC4
So would people run a mile if they got gun jamming in Far Cry 5 most probably but they did that with every game in the series so it's nothing new, I couldn't stand Far Cry 2's MP when it first launched - most of the guys who loved Pred hated it - same could be said for those who liked FC2 and went to FC3 and those who liked FC3 and went to FC4.
I don't see gun jamming in the game at all never mind MP it has been discussed in the past and wasn't that popular - as for Far Cry 5 with Montreal making the game I am hopeful that the stability and normality will come back and there might be enough that the fans from the earlier games in the series might even like it. (why not that was when it was at it's most popular when Ubi Montreal did the MP so can't wait to see it working again to find out what we get)
