FC is a game however and not one that has ever strived to be big on realism IMO. I could do without this mechanic but I'm fine with jams as long as it's not a major focus of how the game plays and players have the opportunity to mitigate the risk of a jam (by a cleaning mechanic for example) without it feeling over emphasized.

I think it could add to the intensity of the gameplay if done right. ....like maybe picking up a random weapon during a gun battle and having the chance that it might jam. .....just thinking out loud here.

Not having the jamming clearly isn't a deal-breaking omission for me, but I enjoyed it & thought that it added an additional layer of tension to gunfights when you know your weapon is in a state that a jam could occur. Obviously it happened far more frequently than it would in real life, and in my desire for it's return is also a desire for it to be re-balanced & improved upon with more ways to counter & prevent jams & weapon deterioration. They have to exaggerate things like frequency of jams so that it's an actual mechanic, but it was just too frequent in FC2 and literally the only way to stop it from continuing to happen was to replace the weapon, and with weapons only being available at the limited weapon shops, sometimes that could be a chore in itself...

Absolutely agree that the gun jamming adds a layer of tension much needed in shooters. Gun jams should be a threat, a fun random threat always on the back of your mind. They should be rare, but they should be there.

Going prone is another thing that should be in the game. If the idea is free roaming, it feels handicapped if you can't go prone. Sniper rifles and machine guns are supposed to be used like that.

No. It’s not necessary. And it’s commonly done incorrectly and annoyingly

Weapon jamming? Commonly done? I can't even think of another game that has a weapon jamming system in it. I agree that it was done annoyingly but along with wishing for it's return, weapon jam supporters also tend to want it implemented better as well. I will concede that it is not "necessary", but also suggest that not adding things on the basis that it is "not necessary" is why the core mechanic of shooting & reloading in FPS games has remained unchanged for over 20 years. Adding additional layers of depth to existing mechanics may not be "necessary", but it's how you move those mechanics forward rather than continuing to let them stagnate.

To put it lightly, I rather dip my balls in sulfuric acid than have weapon degradation in the game. I'm so exhausted with weapon degradation. I still have weapon degradation poisoning from Zelda: BOTW. That game was near perfect aside being ruined by that. If they do add it, Please, Please, Please for the love of planet earth. Make it optional. Maybe exclusive to the survival setting or something. I rather not have my gun jam every 5 minutes or have a damn baseball bat break after a few hours of gameplay.

Weapon degradation is almost never realistic. They always make it so your weapons break just on a whim and so often. I would prefer not losing the epic camo gun with optic sight attatched that I bought every time the wind blows or having bows snap on my bow when in real life it'd pretty much never happen with proper maintnence. But to each their own.

Would love this system back from Far Cry 2.

Maybe polished up with the discussed weapon maintenance system.

    --Most Importantly--

Taking into consideration the fact that in reality most people who play Far Cry do not want this random element as an interruption. I'd say it would be a very appreciated "Toggleable" Difficulty option you could enable at the start of creating a New Game.

Granted the hidden variables that this system would have probably would mean there wouldn't be a toggle after starting the save and as such again probably a lot of people who are super hyped for the idea would possibly get tired of it roughly 50% in with the completion. Not to mention the possible development time and resources required to make it proper good.

With all that said. Please allow the insane few of us to have our weapon unreliability option.

    where is prone?

Not having prone is full ******. Why bother having a PC version of the game if you are just going to piss everyone off by not having prone? Also, knowing that the gun can jam is important. It adds to the realism. That doesn't mean my gun should jam. If you keep your gun clean and use it how it says in the manual why should it jam?

    jamming the LMG

Actually I do like making my gun jam in one instance: If I light up an ambush with an LMG, I thoroughly enjoy spazzing out on the LMG until it jams up. It gives me huge satisfaction. Then I can pull out the mercy weapon and head downrange to complete the satisfaction.

body movement / macro environment interaction.

OK it's also gone back wards a bit with movement. An FPS in 2018 shouldn't play like Goldeneye on Nintendo 64. When I approach a shoulder-high embankment and press space-bar, that is not me telling the man to jump into the wall in front of him and bounce back, or worse, ascend it like Jesus on a cloud. I want him to climb. I want to encourage him to build his core strength by jumping up there and using his elbows and hands and getting cosy with mother nature and heaving himself and his 15 kilos of webbing and automatic weapons onto the ground, rolling the back leg up there, and then resuming whatever stance I was in before. I'm grateful that it's not me doing it, but it is possible. They haven't done enough work on the hard stuff with this Far Cry V. It's one step forward and two steps back, as usual.
