!!! Awesome! The more I hear about Metro the more interested I get in it. I'm not a huge fan of mutant/ monster enemies, typically in FPS I like fighting human combatants, but Metro Exodus is looking too good to not at least try out, having very limited experience with last light & I never even played 2033. The weapons are a bit weird being as they're all super make-shift, but it looks like they're putting a ton of effort into making them as authentic as can be. I assume you've been following gameinformer's month of coverage then? I went and watched the video on the guns. I wish FC would get some gun nuts on the design team who'd get that into crafting them....Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
That feature should have been perpetual since FC2.

I agree on the MP.Originally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post
You would like it to come back only if there is a good reason to it so.. maybe for Far Cry 6?Originally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post
I wouldn't mind gun jamming being introduced but only if there was a feature to clean your weapon periodically as some have mentioned. Picking up old and/or questionable weapons might require you to clean them first to mitigate any risk of jams.
Things like brands or types of ammo can affect reliability in some weapons and would be great if they could implement that as well. .....but considering the relative simplicity of FC, I doubt they ever would. Hell, they never did it for GRW which was supposed to be a more serious and "realistic" shooter.
Or they could give us guns that shoot flowers, and tomato soup! Chicken grenades, and cooked cauliflower knives!
Weapons degradation "would" be fine; except for it happens so gradually (rust, oxidation, lack of appropriate lubrication), or happens for such specific causative factors (excessive dust/tight tolerances, bad ammo etc) it's nothing like what was portrayed in FC 2. Weapon jamming is the problem I've encountered most. Bad ammo, ****ed up mags (bent feed lips, dented bodies, etc), over heated belt feds, bad/dirty ammo belts. The second most common issue I've experienced is weapon damage due to dropping, using them for unintended purposes (pry bars, pounding on **** with them etc), being struck by incoming bullets/fragmentation etc.
The only way I'd support the return of this horrendous game mechanic is, as noted by Kean_1, is if they gave us weapon maintenance kits and glitter to bling them up.![]()
Not sure anyone has specifically suggested FC5 should have it, I just like the mechanic as an idea & would like to see it return to the series in a better implemented more balanced way. When I say I support it's return, I mean I support it's return provided the context of the setting / scenario of the title that hypothetically brings it back justifies it. Definitely the jamming was really unrealistically way too common in FC2. That would be a primary issue we'd all want them to address & as well they'd need to provide more ways to counter & prevent jams from ever occurring.
It's a lost cause though, the opponents of the feature were very vocal in their disdain for it in FC2 and they'll never bring it back so it's kind of a moot point. This fact saddens me because to my knowledge that was the first & last time there has been any sort of innovative twist to FPS gameplay that effected the moment to moment act of firing your weapon in a shooter. Hopefully Metro can make things interesting again....
Personally, I have had relatively few weapon jams with my own guns over the last 40 years or so of civilian shooting/ownership. The times I had were usually contributed to certain types or brands of ammo a particular gun didn't like, some types or condition of magazines, damage, an adjustment issue, operator error, cleanliness with certain weapons, etc. .....not counting any mfg defects.
FC is a game however and not one that has ever strived to be big on realism IMO. I could do without this mechanic but I'm fine with jams as long as it's not a major focus of how the game plays and players have the opportunity to mitigate the risk of a jam (by a cleaning mechanic for example) without it feeling over emphasized.
I think it could add to the intensity of the gameplay if done right. ....like maybe picking up a random weapon during a gun battle and having the chance that it might jam. .....just thinking out loud here.
