    Kobayashi Maru Leaderboard

    Hi fellow Trek Fans!
Hope you all are having fun with this awesome game.

I just completed the Kobayashi Maru scenario with a random group, trying to get the related trophy.
We got 138 people rescued on our second try.

So i wonder what score a really dedicated group might be able to achieve.
But remember, if you want to brag about a ridiculously high score:
    Picīs or it didnīt happen!

    Leaderboard:

    1. Riley207 222
    2. Captain_Summers 216
    3. Dj_DTM 204
    4. timberwolf55 162

    Woah! 138 is impressive.

I think this thread means that you are morally obligated to write us a strategy post detailing your approach to the mission.

I had a really good run with a newbie crew yesterday. I was manning tactical and have a fair amount of XP (LT. CM Rank) so I was able to handle transport and fighting. But the others did really well. We didn't get anywhere close to 138 but it was the best run I've had so far.

You are right. We should have a Leaderboard.

    yay falling_link, Hi!

Yes, being moral and sharing his secrets are things Garak just loves to do!

I played the Kobayashi Maru only three times so far, so i need to familiarize myself a little bit more with the test to get a complete strategy.

Our basic approach for the 138 run was like follows:
Stick as close as possible to the Kobayashi Maru to keep the lock on time low.
At the same time try to out maneuver the Klingon ships, staying behind them as much as possible.
Keep the Shields down almost all the time and permanently beam people aboard.
Disrupt enemy weapons per system intrusion to minimize their damage output.

I got a few thoughts on how performance might be enhanced further, so if some good players here are up for it we could try to set up a game.
With a dedicated group where everybody is very familiar with the game i reckon we could get a pretty good score.
My psn id is Garak911 if someone wants to add me.

Unfortunately I don't think it was with you that I flew with Garak911, but our tactics were almost the same. Also helps if you have a crew that knows what they are doing as I reattempted the challenge with another crew, but because the new crew didn't quite have their roles fully understood it failed quickly.

Had a good run yesterday, while we kept close to the Maru though we could disrupted the weapons more, tactical didn't have much experience that's why we did the maru in the first place, but that being said, it was my best run so far and got close to 100.

    Open questions:

    * Might it be worth it disrupting shields instead of weapons? Some of my attempts the Kobayashi died quickly. I don't know if it's optimal to keep weapons off or to keep the lifetime of the hostiles down.

    * Is it ever worth it to lock on phasers to subsystems? It seems like the time to disable weapons "feels" very close to the time to destroy the hull with normal fire.

    * Is the fail state essentially always going to be when the spawn rate of enemy vessels grows too high to prevent uneven engagements and force shields?

    * Is there any optimal approach for the Engineer to perform routings based on particular states of combat?
