Fix the QUITTING please god! Too much wasted time!

The amount of games i play in which somebody quits is getting ridiculous. At least 9 out of 10 games i play somebody quits. Somebody has to lose, and the people who do immediately quit out to pad their records. Ubisoft is PROMOTING QUITTING. They have done nothing about it in this amount of time when there are plenty of sound solutions to stop the HONORLESS quitting. They should make it when you quit, it is an automatic loss on your record. And if you quit 3 times within 3 hours you should either receive a short time ban or an automatic 10 losses. (because i can easily play this game for hours and never quit out. I'm pretty sure i've only quit out of one game ever.) I know there might be better solutions but im just spit balling here and would appreciate any useful ideas on how to prevent quitting in the comments.

And they NEEEED to fix this problem because the more people quit out, the more i get booted out of a game i've been playing for 10 minutes..therefore COMPLETELY wasting the time i played without progressing my character. Who's gonna argue that's not insanely frustrating. I've probably wasted like 3 hours on games quitting out on me already if not way more it happens so often.
Quitters in every single game is a terrible game environment and im sick of all the big babies getting me kicked out of the game when i just want to play the damn game!

I think this here is the real dilemma in trying to penalize quitters. Right now, all it takes is one person to quit out and it drops most everyone else, if not everyone. How does the game differentiate between someone who quit the match, someone who hard closed the app to quit the match, someone a ***got hacker kicked out of the match, someone who was dropped from the match when someone else quit, someone who was disconnected on legitimate connectivity issues due to power interruption/ faulty wiring/ ISP service disruption/ etc.? Before we start penalizing players for leaving matches, we need to get dedicated servers and lose this P2P ********, so figuring out who is actually quitting and needs to be penalized is more efficient. If you start dropping penalties blindly, even more people are going to stop playing this already dwindling game. What they need to do is fix the connection issues, and that will stop the session force closes. If the session weren't slammed closed every time someone quit, people wouldn't care so much, because they'd be fighting bots rather than players either for the rest of the match or until the bot is replaced by a new player. So, first, dedicated servers to prevent session closes. Then work on penalties.

A quitting penalty has been developed and we are aiming to implement it in our next patch.

RIIIIIIIGHT, that would require you to fix your terrible servers first, otherwise you're just penalizing 'quitters' who aren't actually quitting but are getting booted out of the game because of unstable servers.

No penalty for leaving but fix of the connection problem

60 $/€ for a game that you bought and then you are being forced to play a whole match regardless of what is going on? With all 4vs4 modes almost unplayable with the current quality of the matches? I would go as far and say that 60% of the matches are not rly fun in one way or another. And than you get a penalty if you dont want to have zero fun in a game that you bought. Just think back a few years about games with medicore singleplayer and focus on multiplayer. In no way you got a penalty if you left a match. It was also not totally unstable when someone left. It could happen but not very often. It was also not nice ofc. In some games you not even get a bot as a replacement. And nobody can tell me , with a bot you cant win.

Think about the reason WHY players leave a match. Sure they are some instant rage-quits but they are in every game. More over its bc some serious BS is going on, could be anything from ppl playing like as*holes to teammates making questionable choices. Could be hard lags and fps drops as well. What I want to say is, fix the core- problems and you wont have problems with that many leavers anymore.

For the team, a leave is always bad but you cant blame anyone if they do. And there is already a penalty btw. No rewards. If you leave often, lloking at the time of matchmaking takes, it also becomes a serious time waste. Rly this is penalty enough.

To force someone to stay in-game at all cost, otherwise he gets punished. For leaving your team alone, well makes me think about the suggestions with the honor systems. Could come in handy at this point.

I dont want to defend anti-team-behavior at all, I just want to make clear that a leave-penalty will not help the game in any way.

There are some good points in here, and I'd be interested in the "honor" system, but I think the devs are planning to do a system where...

Quit 1 Time -- Okay, no big deal. People can suck, we understand.

Quit 2 Times -- You are a quitter and you need 5 minutes in the corner

Quit 3 Times -- Dude... seriously? Take a break.

I think they simultaneously need to make a more effective punishment for players who waste time in matches that make you want to quit - i.e. A Shinobi or PK who just runs around and "dodge rolling" either until the player quits, or until their friends can arrive in the zone. I've seen a few teams do that where they run around with 3 guys, and have one of their teammates "contest" the zone by simply rolling around until their friends can arrive.

In cases like that it is important to get a video-capture to send to Ubisoft, and then Ubisoft has to actually punish those people for being insufferable ******bags. It is in the best interest of the devs to have people not only playing, but enjoying the game, recommending the game to friends, etc.

The devs also said their penalty system would be able to scrutinize between Alt-f4 quits, rage quits, and lost connections.

One of the things I think is important is to remember the internal politics of Ubisoft when it comes to connectivity issues. I guarantee however upset a player is about connectivity it is EXPONENTIALLY the case for the devs. Roman & Damien and the rest of the devs must be so frustrated that the game isn't operating correctly - it is not only their livelihood, but also this creative and conceptual masterpiece that just won't stay connected. It'd be like Da Vinci's paint brush splintering as he tried to finish the Mona Lisa.

And they probably thought their version of P2P would work (which is obviously NOT the case) and they have to go to their bosses at Ubisoft and may have even asked for something to be done... and had an accountant or someone explain that they "just have to make it work with what you have" or something to that effect. I'm just guessing, and maybe I'm totally wrong about that, but the connectivity issue is probably more complex than, say, hero balancing or gear stats.

They need to do 2 things to help fix this:

    1. Allow players to quit before the match starts
    2. Create a matchmaking system that fills open slots in lobbies before the match starts.

Why in the hell do we have to join a new lobby every time people leave one at the end of a match. This game is online only and it has the worst online matchmaking interface I have ever seen.

There really shouldn't be any leaver penalty systems in games/modes that are not ranked. Why should players be forced to play a game that they are either getting frustrated with, or just have real life matters that might get in the way. It might suck to lose 5 times in a row because of ragequitting teammates, but you just need to suck it up. It's not like that lost game really matters in the end. Not in casual games. There should never be a system that forces players to continue playing when it's just casual play, since again, there are many reasons as to why someone quits, but even if the majority of those reasons are just ragequits, players should be able to quit if they so choose.

It is just a video game after all. Not real life. You people act entitled. When someone does something that you dislike, you act as if they need to be lynched because they "ruined your fun." If you're not having fun, then that's your problem. Again, it might suck when teammates quit 90% of the time, but that's just how it is. Suck it up. It's funny too how your title is stating that it's too much "WASTED TIME," but that's all video games are. Wasted time.

And this has nothing to do with me, so don't start accusing me of being a "ragequitter." I just hate people that think they're entitled.

Well, again, if someone has real life things going on they can just turn off their console or computer and go on with their day. Those people wouldn't be affected by the penalty.

Entitlement is an interesting topic to bring up... isn't it hypocritical to think you can join and leave games whenever you want? Isn't that in itself... a form of entitlement?
You're "entitled" to play or quit whenever you like? Why join a game that you don't plan to finish? No one HAS to finish the match, they can quit... and then take a penalty cooldown. Or play story mode until they can mature.

And, again, if someone quits from one match they won't be penalized. If they quit twice in a row they get penalized.

Quitting matches is toxic to the gameplay, and because the devs can't determine motive for quitting they have to punish serial quitters.

I think your worst argument is that it "is just a video game". It is a multi-billion dollar industry. I don't think most people playing games think they are wasting their time, and if they do think that they may want to reconcile why they are consciously wasting their own time.

Quit penalties are not a novel idea. They have been in games before and they work really well as a deterrent. It will enrich the game, and you'll enjoy it more. And if not... I guess you'll just have to suck it up.
