Rating system of user made maps.

On the previous farcry's the rating systems of maps did not work.

So please just allow only one posetive vote per map per account. This way the good and popular maps will rise to the top of the list.

If people can vote negative, it will get abused. Some trolls will go far to destroy maps, with several accounts. And some just find it funny to down vote maps, just because some one put hours in it.

I would have to agree with the above comments.. A lobby system to host multiple maps. Also if they use the same voting system, it has to be modified. Any map maker who puts a lot of effort into their maps, Are just put off by the voting system. Especially on Xbox one. On PC its not as bad but some of the assault maps are low effort maps also. I even made a video on it.. To show how bad it is. Also stolen maps or maps that are copied over and over again.

I'd like better ways to find maps for me to play. As every player has their own taste, a single rating doesn't hold much value for me. Instead, how about allowing players to define their own criteria?

    For example:
    • The amount of time spent creating the map
    • The (average) playtime of a map
    • The size of a map
    • The number of different assets in a map(sector). I don't want to kill hundreds of bears placed in a convenient 'valley'.
    • The modifiers. If godmode or unlimited ammo is a requirement, I'm out.
    • The terrain. The more difference in mesh, the better.
    • The texturing. Having a default texture present is a turnoff.
    • The flags. I shouldn't be interested in someone's "testing' map.
    • Versioning. If a certain player has a "Mapname" and "Mapname V2" published, with the same thumbnail, I only want to see V2 in my list.
    • My friends' taste. When my friends play a map & like it, I want to try it too. Perhaps it'd be possible to have a 'maps liked by your friends' section, and possibly even keep track of the clearing time between players/friends, so each map will have a highscore toplist? That would be fun!

When Ubisoft pulled the plug on their Far Cry 4 Community Maps website, I intended to bring it back. Posted at http://maps.farcry.eu, I wanted to take the maps website, and add additional filtering based on the suggestions posted above, where available. Sadly, I was unable to extract said data from the published map files. And now it only serves as a way to load maps cross-platform. Allowing people to port XBOne/PC maps to PS4, and vice versa. By means of the MapSwapper.

I'm hoping a Community Maps website showcasing the maps created for FC5 will return. I think map makers deserve a stage to present their map, and the community needs to be able to provide textual feedback on a map, so map makers will know how their work is appreciated.

For me they can totally remove ratings, from playing Far Cry Instincts Predator where you would see people hosting maps and the popular ones were getting hosted multiple times to seeing obsessive people who cared more about their own map ratings than playing quality maps by other good map makers it was a sad time/
    .

Saying to someone there are a few minor faults - they could have fixed and re-published but they chose not to because their precious ratings would be set to zero.
Each to their own I like playing good maps and don't care who they are by if they are quality and if FC5 allows us to host these maps then I will be hosting loads of peoples good maps.

If FC5 is a fun game I expect a lot of the old Predator / Instincts players to return who also like the good times so will be spending my time in matches rather than monitoring stats.

I know I would love to have at least some of these options Steve64b mentioned to find different types of well made maps.

Steve64b is completely right in saying the single rating system has no value. When the editor has the ability to make a variety of maps.. As was seen in the past Far Cry games with IGE.

Far Cry 4 rating system forces the map editor to create only a certain type of map. If the editor wants his map played.

This large group who votes for maps that have. Invincibility, flat terrain, little to no effort in the design of the map.. are pushing up these very basic maps.

The way it is on Xbox one . The system is pushing other groups who want to play creative, well made maps away.

The system in the game needs to promote or at least find a variety of well made, high effort maps to capture the largest group of gamers.. while pushing up the quality of maps.

Even have an area that's for these very simple maps. So the players who like those maps have a place..

So with the right system in place to address these points with FC 4 rating system. Having the ability to make Multiplayer, single player, and co-op maps. Also the option to host a list of maps for Multiplayer.. Far Cry 5 should easily be the most successful Far Cry game in terms of it's editor..

I think the only rating that should be in fc5 is a like button. no dislike button. just a like, that's it. keep it simple.

I agreed that voting should not be too difficult in FC5.
There must be a system where both the casual gamers (big majority, who like it simple) ánd the Mappers can work with. Maybe a separate website could work? (like in FC3 where you can change your avatar en select type of punishments).
Where you can find and track map performance. But ingame it should remain very simple. Also to avoid making it to easy for haters to rune map ratings.
