I hope that the world isn't just huge and pretty

I really like what I saw in the trailer. With the inclusion of planes, I have the feeling that the map of the game will be huge but I hope that huge and pretty isn't the only thing that the world of Far Cry 5 is. Its what we can do in the world that counts so I really hope that there a lot to do in that world aside from the main story missions, side missions and collectibles. From the trailer, it looks like we may be able to do some hunting obviously, maybe also some fishing and maybe some races as well but I hope that there is more than those. The side missions is what will really fill the world up with things to do but the problem is I hope that those side missions isn't just the standard liberate the outposts, they can get repetitive if you put too much in the game. I'm not saying that you can't include those outposts because liberating outposts can be kinda fun, I just hope that the side missions are more than liberating outposts and that they are not the majority of the side missions. I would like side missions similar to games like Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and the Witcher where the side missions have their own little stories to tell.

I agree with this very much. I really think the past few FC games have relied almost too heavily on the outposts. I think the outposts could be iterated upon as well, but there should be characters to meet in the world who give you missions to do that are more than simple fetch quests or go here, kill ,return type activities. It would be very cool to get a series of completely optional missions with a smaller scale side story from multiple different characters. These would be great ways to mix up gameplay as well and provide "palette cleanser" type things to do. I mean, at this point it's getting to be to late to be adding features so I'm not expecting any of this stuff to impact development in any way. However, and I'm just spitballin' here, what if you are just out hunting in the forest and come upon a logger who says he has a couple more trees he has to fall, but he just twisted his ankle and can't do it? You can pick up his chainsaw and go cut down the trees he marked via a little mini-game or something. Come back to the guy and he says he owes you one and to meet him at Mary May's bar some night and he'll buy you a beer. That could potentially lead to another favor for the man etc. etc...

Side missions unrelated to the central story offer all sorts of potential to do things you can't do in the main narrative arc. They provide opportunities for mixing up the pace of the game, like slowing things down for a bit in my example above. Whole lot of possibilities when you're no longer tethered to the main narrative...

I really liked the hunting and assassination contracts in FC3&4, so I hope those are back. Also, I would absolutely love some motorcycle races! And some treasure hunts or something similar would also be quite nice!
