He was a spoiled rich white kid with a bunch of spoiled rich white kid friends who thought it would be totally awesome to vacation and do drugs in a land they clearly knew nothing about, totally oblivious to the fact that it was in the middle of a civil war. He treats his friends and supposed girlfriend (who basically just cries the entire game while he distances himself from her for no discernible reason) like **** at every opportunity. His ex-military brother, who appears to be the most down-to-earth of all the group, dies early on and players were stuck playing as the brother with no military experience, who somehow ends up becoming a super-human warrior anyway. He spends most of the game doing the bidding of a dangerous psychopath just because he was apparently sexually attracted to her. Most people were happy to see him die at the end of the game.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Oh, and I am indifferent to the whole character customization thing. I just hope they don't waste too much time or resources on it.
A lot of what you're saying when describing Brody was absolutely the deliberate intention of the writer of the game. It was a completely conscious choice for him to kill off the guy who is the obvious option as a person capable of doing what you do in the game and instead put you in control of this dooshy (i know how to spell that but it censored it! haha) dude-bro. The whole narrative of that game is an examination of how video games just have you being this unstoppable killing machine who does what he's told without any real reason to.... Not saying it was executed perfectly or that the story is actually great and the character was flawless, but it was sort of the point...

Well lots of us hated it when FC2 dropped weapon placement for the Weapon Class System, hated FC3 not having vehicles in the editor and the crappy hosting options we got - hated it even more that we couldn't make multiplayer maps with the FC4 editor.

I always say this, Far Cry is a game that gives you excellent things but always seems to take away other things which you like.
Maybe after the game launches they will take on board comments / opinions over the 1st 6 months and if it isn't what the majority want it might change with the next game.

Just one of those things where you have to work with what you get, I can't see anything changing at this stage - then again we know nothing so would be better to see how it all works, maybe E3 will shed some light.

For MP I really think it is a good thing especially if we get solo DM mode which has been missing since Far Cry 2, for SP I will choose male or female, skin and hair color and would like one of those long trench type coats in the video with the nutter cult symbol on the back.

Hopefully it might work out better than you think but we will all have to wait and see - feel your pain though I know what it's like when they make changes you don't agree with, been suffering with multiplayer changes since 2008.

I am not upset really about customization being there, I just fail to understand its purpose. Like I mentioned we don't know everything about it's implementation so there may be incentive to change your gear, but if it is purely cosmetic for a character that you never see from a 3rd person perspective it would be very pointless and utterly meaningless.

Maybe character customization would be good to extent of just gender. I'm not racist or anything but Far Cry should have one fixed character, but I'm okay with having two fixed characters of a different gender. Adding in the option to change your skin tone, now you'd just be adding in too many characters with names and back stories. Like Far Cry 2. Which I hated. One of the main reasons I'm scared about Far Cry 5 having character customization is because now that once you change the characters bilological features you just took away their backstory. But of course, other people don't see the same way as me. So I think it would be okay if you had one two fixed characters (male and female) with a name for each of them. And as soon as you choose which gender you want then you can decide their skin tone. But as long as they have the same name, same backstory, then I think that be okay. Not my first choice, I like how Far Cry did it before, but I can survive it. As long as your character still talks, I'm okay. I swear if your character in Far Cry 5 doesn't talk imma call up Ubisoft and tell them what up with that.

I think you should probably get that phone ready... I kinda doubt we'll have a speaking protagonist...

Some people like it.... It could be fun for multiplayer, as your clan can adapt to a certain color or clothing style.....

This is exactly what came to mind for me! I remember wondering why they did that? There was no impact on the game at all, unless you count the fact that the little you did see of the characters arms looked different. A slightly interesting feature to have to choose, but I'm not spending time actually designing a character only to see my arms different. It seems to me that there must be a reason to do this that we haven't been told yet. It's a wait and see thing for me.

lol who wants to bet? Since they added character customisation do you think will be able to see our feet looking down?

To be honest the backstory point is null for me. All the cutscenes and in game story information for AJ and JasonB didn;t peak my interest at all I found those two such boring characters... strangely enough in Far Cry 2, the small paragraph of background info, country of origin info they gave us was enough to make those characters interesting for me atleast
