He is not your real brother anyway, so stop (re)acting so stupid. This game has new characters, none you have ever played before, so you have no connection to them and certainly not in real life. So wake up! It's a game and a game world. If you don't like character customization simply select the first character you see in the game, accept how he/she looks, click next and move on to play the game as that person. Stop crying over nothing!

Hmmm... create your own character... whole 'story' playable in coop mode... I have feeling the """"story"""" will take a back seat.

It's not nothing though, the issue he has, is that with custom characters you have to sacrifice that character's identity for the sake of the player's custom choices. If you can change his race, he is clearly not a fixed character with a specific race, and because he can be multiple races, he cannot have an established history, and because of no established history, they cannot give him specific reactions to events or certain dialog (if there is any at all from the protagonist). it's not nothing that the player character will not be someone with thoughts, perspectives or emotions.

Personally, that side of it doesn't bother me as much, I just think that all the customization options and work going into making it a part of the game would've been better utilized doing things that will actually matter rather than the trivialities of your character wearing a different shirt you can't even see or a hat that no one gives a f#*k about. I suppose I shouldn't hate on it to hard until we find out more about it, but unless there are some sort of gameplay ramifications to wearing certain gear, I think it's a pointless feature implemented purely to please people who for some reason think it's important to have.

Oh I certainly agree he has an issue. In his head that is. It does not matter who the player is as ANYBODY can have these history, reactions, thoughts, perspectives and emotions. It is a game and the developers/writers decide what history, reactions, thoughts, perspectives, emotions or outfits to choose from the player will have. Even if, when or where you are or are not able to see or experience it is their choice.

Now enough said about this ********.

Having a mute protagonist (which is what is suspected given he / she is not a specific, fixed character) puts certain limitations on the way you can tell a story and how that story is able to unfold. You may not think these things are an issue but others do and their opinions are just as valid as yours are. Just because you don't agree with someone else's perspective doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to talk about it when the points they are making are completely valid and the discussion they are instigating not without merit. If you do not like this particular topic, do not read this particular thread. You don't have to read about his or anyones grievances on the matter, but the whole point about it is that some people prefer to play as a character rather than assume a character's identity themselves. They'd rather view the story from the character's perspective rather than assume the identity of them. You may think that is irrelevant but others do not.

I agree about losing personality and character background with no fixed character, but on the other hand Jason and Ajay were not that fleshed out in my opinion, because they were more a tool in the story than a character. Ajay's parents and what happened with them was important, but he himself was only used to resolve the conflict going on in Kyrat. With Jason it was a journey from normal person to someone willing to do whatever it takes to survive and protect your family. What I am trying to say is that nothing about the games story required those specific characters and could have been easily a player chosen character, but would have taken a bit more work to pull off from Ubisoft.

Uh... Jason Brody was one of the most reviled and unrelatable protagonists in Ubisoft history. He was a spoiled rich white kid with a bunch of spoiled rich white kid friends who thought it would be totally awesome to vacation and do drugs in a land they clearly knew nothing about, totally oblivious to the fact that it was in the middle of a civil war. He treats his friends and supposed girlfriend (who basically just cries the entire game while he distances himself from her for no discernible reason) like **** at every opportunity. His ex-military brother, who appears to be the most down-to-earth of all the group, dies early on and players were stuck playing as the brother with no military experience, who somehow ends up becoming a super-human warrior anyway. He spends most of the game doing the bidding of a dangerous psychopath just because he was apparently sexually attracted to her. Most people were happy to see him die at the end of the game.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Oh, and I am indifferent to the whole character customization thing. I just hope they don't waste too much time or resources on it.

Calm down, like I'm just weighing in on the matter. I didn't think people could get so triggered from something like this. And no I don't have problemos in my head I just like having one fixed character who has a background and story that you can care for. I liked it when I can talk about Jason Brody or Ajay Ghale, cuz We can relate. Having your own character completely ruins that. Far Cry just isn't the kind of game where you get to customize your player.
