I'm sure they can but they more they spend the less they profit. We'll just have to wait & see. Like I said, I hope you're right, but I'm certainly not expecting you to be...

Honestly I think that would be a good set up for the character had they chose to actually create one....
If people roleplay it like you (and I) do, then this feature could turn out to be quite fun...

i actually like that from Far Cry 2, they gave us just enough background info to give each character a different feel, and left enough details out that we could add our own twist on there story our self. In 3 you had no choice because you actually sounded like a whiny brat

Brody was a full on dude-bro, frat boy bozo, but i'd still prefer a story where we play the game through the perspective of an established character than someone who will walk up to a mission giver, listen to them talk, turn around and walk away without an utterance of a word. There is just a disconnect for me when the person who will inevitably be the savior of Hope County by uniting a resistance movement to fight back at an oppressive cult, will most likely do so without saying so much as "I'm here to help" to the people there...

Maybe that line of thought could not have worked as a "Brody" but it certainly worked well with the innate lawlessness of Far Cry 2 characters.

Well yes that train of thought might work in FC2 where you played a mercenary (people literally paid to kill others) hired by the government to execute an arms dealer who had been selling weapons to African warlords, I don't believe however, that the same thinking can or should be applied to a sheriff's deputy who will no doubt kill 100's of subjugated american citizens though (not that I'm saying I have issue with that, whatever, kill or be killed amirght?). The context here though makes a world of difference. I mean, yes, there are without question cold-hearted, bad people who use a position of law enforcement to justify killing people, but I don't think I really want to play FC5 with the idea that I am playing a corrupt policeman who is happy to finally have justification to murder without repercussion... Thats certainly not the role I'll be imagining... Your reasoning here is basically implying that I should tell myself I am a corrupt cop who just wants to commit murder

The fact that Ubisoft is going to make the protagonist mute is wetarded, they can easily voice two people (male and female). I don't think you'd have to record a different voice for every skin colour there is. Just choose a voice actor for each gender that kinda sounds like them all.

To be clear, I don't think it's absolutely certain that the protag is not voiced, it's just the widely believed theory based on being a custom character rather than a defined one. There is a sliver of hope yet... and while it may seem easy, 2 VA's means 2x the $$$, so... thats hardly 'easy"...

I guess that does disappoint me quite a lot. I mean, I liked Jason and Ajay, even Takkar and especially Rex cause they had sometimes quite nice lines ("Ooh disgusting..." when looting animals and else). Having a mute is, well... Sure the bad guys will talk directly to us and we need to respond in some way.

Wow, that just made me realize that if our character is indeed mute, we'll have even more generic lines when skinning animals. Won't even be "ew gross" now we'll just get endless "ewws" & "uugghs"... Hopeing mist's prediction of voiced male & female is true now more than ever... Hope they can just find a couple of VAs with a generic/ base enough voice that it could be used for every basic nationality option in the game and have them talk even less than Ajay...
