Where does it say that the animals for hire are bears and cougars?? I hope not because that sounds a bit daft loolOriginally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
And yeah like you say, I do hope they consider the map and map revealing mechanics if they haven't already!
I don't mind another FAR CRY game.
I love taking down outposts, I even don't mind towers.
I like the core gameplay loop and the non linear nature of these games.
But, another modern day setting, more weapons more vehicles... it's gotta be more than that!
FC4 I felt was pushing it.... it was more of the same. And a lot of the reviews touched on that.
Vehicle customisation - in 1st person shooter? So most of the time you don't get to see your customised vehicle until you get out of it?
People are excited for that?
For me, here's what I want.
1) If you can give individual orders to NPC companions like (Mass Effect - a simple system that works well). Also hopefully they can die! Like FC2!
Which makes you care about them much more.
2) hopefully they'll be some survival mechanics..? Which were suggested in the survey.
Like food, water? Bandages to stop bleeding out if wounded. If your bleeding it will leave blood trails that can be tracked by the enemy and animals. Same is true if you wound enemies.
Also these mechanics would give greater meaning to hunting...
3) traps - hopefully you can make makeshift traps, bear traps, spear traps..
But something different, deeper.
I agree with you on some things, not so much on others. Yes, I agree there needs to be more changes than just more vehicles & weapons. I would love if there was some sort of trap system to set up ambushes & such, however of your list of 3 features, thats the only one I would want.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
Squad commands I feel have no place in FC. I is not some tactical shooter where you're a commanding officer ordering units around. I wouldn't want squad commands personally, because I'll probably barely, if ever, use guns for hire (let alone fangs for hire which sounds pretty dumb imo). I never use squad commands, I'd rather your support just be autonomous..
Survival mechanics to me usually end up being a tedious and frustrating meter management chore. even the limited survival mechanics they added to Primal were annoying and I'm thankful FC hasn't gone that route and made the game force you to hunt or drink when you're trying to actually accomplish something... I need to go take this outpost, but wait, I'm thirsty and tired so i have to find a bed after i find a river but by the time you're heading to the bed now you're hungry and have to hunt .. bleeeeh, no thank you...
I just feel it gives a lot of the mechanics, like hunting meaning.
I think lite survival mechanics can be fun if implemented well. Nothing too crazy....
Perhaps a Survival difficulty setting - which we asked for in Primal and they did it.
It was great and made the game for me. Made it so immersive.
But yeah I appreciate your perspective as well. It's not everyone's flavour, and if you ain't into that kind of thing then yes it feels like busy work....
No opposition to that. I do think some light elements wouldn't be horrible if they were implemented & balanced well, but when you have a bunch of overlapping resources to manage it becomes tedious & that gets frustrating to me. I wouldn't hate it if like once in an in-game day we had to eat & drink, but much more than that & it'd get annoying...Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
