Far Cry 5 - LOOKS LIKE MORE... OF THE SAME.?

After FC 4 - I honestly was burned out. I don't know how others felt, but I was done. It was a decent game. No issue with it.

But, I thought FC 5 would have to be a radical departure in order to tempt me back.
If it was just gonna go the predictable route of, another modern setting, more guns, more vehicles, more of what's been before - I'd pass.

Ubisoft did a survey to get people's feedback on wildly different concepts for the next FC.
It was exciting, as the feeling was that Ubisoft felt the same way, and wanted to do something different...

But after seeing the trailer and feature list - I see that in typical Ubisoft fashion, after taking efforts to gather extensive user feedback, they totally ignore all of it...

I'm actually really shocked that this looks so similar to what we've seen before....
Why did they take a year off to create something so samey?

I mean when you go down the list of features it's just MORE of what we have seen in the other FC games. Nothing stands out as interesting or new. It's just the same stuff, but repackaged.

It seems they've made 'another Far Cry game' - more guns, more vehicles... etc ....

Am I the only one not excited by what I'm seeing here.....?

Not at all imo...looks completely different, save for a few elements of gameplay, but those HAVE to be the same for it to be a FC game!

Main Far Cry has always been about exploring tropical places and forrest. This time is set in the US so it's totally different.
I'm sure that that list you were reffering to was about FC spin offs (such as Blood Dragon, Primal etc.)

I was expecting some other tropical place or a return in africa with survival elements, so I'm actually disappointed

I like the trailers and the story idea. It is a nice setting. What I don't like is that you can control the animals too much to do attacks etc... Its ok to let them react to certain events happening or when people come to close to them or make the cows start running in a certain direction when you use a plane to closely fly over their heads. Also nice to hear we will have a map editor again now with more options and hopefully some triggers or event scripting.

Personally, I couldn't be happier. Yes, a lot of it is like other FC games, but after all, it is a FC game! All they really needed to do is come up with a new setting (check), write a new story (check), and add a lot more ways play - meaning more vehicles, weapons, animals, etc... (check). I'm sure there will be plenty of other people who will agree with you and be disappointed, but that doesn't mean they ignored the feedback. Personally, I never voted for Vampires or FC in space.

It might not be that bad. I would agree that if you can command cows and bears to do as you wish, that would be dumb. But if they're just talking about dogs and/or wolves, that's more plausible. I would expect that you would be able to train a dog to attack on command.

Where did you find this list? sounds awseome!

But as for your OP, I don't really agree, if they make it too different it won't be Far Cry! It sounds like they are adding much more depth to the game with customisation of vehicles (dunno about guns) and even your avatar (which you can choose like in Far Cry 2!). Even fishing? Sounds to me like they have thought about adding more depth to the mechanics that made the other FC games good!

Only things im not sure about... no mention of what kind of in game map we have (pause menu or physical in-game map like FC2), what mechanic they have for revealing areas of that map (if any)...

This looks pretty promising TBH, but i'm still not gonna pre-order LOL

In regards to the animal commands, they said you have a dog companion that you can control. No other animals or commands were mentioned. Your character is a sheriff so having a dog makes sense, it can attack and fetch weapons which sounds decent. I'd happily bet that you cannot command and control other animals
