Parrying Shugoki heavy opener... | Forums

Can you guys help a complete noob here. I can parry any other heavy (and some lights) in the game just fine, including Shugoki heavy UI or heavy when its 2nd in a chain but I can for the life of me not parry a heavy opener even though its supposedly one of the slowest in the game. What am I doing wrong ?

When I play shugoki and when things are kinda hectic, I open with a running heavy with NO LOCK ON to unsuspecting people. It works alot of the time even if they see me coming. That may have something to do with it.

I assume he means the very first attack thrown by shugo (which is a heavy attack, not light) before they start fighting. The very first attack to "start the fight"

No I dont mean the running heavy, I know not to attempt that. Its just a heavy sideattack (top attack is easy to parry) that isn't second in a chain. I can't for the life of me parry it, no matter which class I pick. Should be deadeasy right ?

The only thing I can think of is maybe the parry flashing red arrow is more delayed than you think and you accidentally start an attack animation but get interrupted by the shugo heavy. If that's not it I don't know, practice it with a buddy and let us know what you find!

I have definately have the timing way off. I got 2 succesful parries today so at least I know Im not bugged somehow
My problem (I think) is that the windup is long and slow but suddenly it explodes really fast.
