How many times has this happened to you?
You're fighting pretty well, the opponent has you in a combo. Your health is getting low but you know their next move. You parry, go for the guardbreak knowing it's free. You miss... They recover then guardbreak you and get that final heavy that finishes you off, essentially giving them the execution...
Guardbreaks should be guaranteed after a parry, like they're supposed to be. Longer range enemies seem to survive this a lot though (looking at you Nobushi) because they're too far away to guardbreak straight away and there's not enough time to move closer before you guardbreak, meaning they just counter it.
I completely disagree. The point of going for a parry rather than simply blocking it is that you get to retaliate. The best way for characters to start combos is through a parry-guardbreak. Otherwise you only get a light attack out a parry and even then the characters that have range will be able to block this by the time you reach them. Or worse yet, they'll parry you and get a free guardbreak.
If nothing else it's unbalanced. The characters that can't be guardbroken after a parry have a massive advantage.
The reason people play so defensive is because parry is way too goodOriginally Posted by Duskmare Go to original post
Not at all. If you go for every parry you're going to get wrecked by any player that can feint. It's a risk-reward system just like every other good part of the game.Originally Posted by Gemini-Iceland Go to original post
Tell that to Orochi or Kensei players. Damn near all of their attacks are parry bait.Originally Posted by Duskmare Go to original post
It's not this true, because a heavy used to parry can be feinted too, it's not this dangerous to use, and i i can sometmes be tricky to punish someone that threw a feinted-parry at you after a successful parry-bait from you.Originally Posted by Duskmare Go to original post
i don t find him correct.. the misure in a fight is the 90%. If you can reach him because of range, than use something else.. the parry is already very punishing: just thing about it. You can parry and not get taired, while your opponent will. You can land an heavy or start a combo. Your ravenge will grow up.. I think it s enough. Just learn who can and who can t, and play in this way. Parry is way more stronger than attacking
