I don't think that necessarily will be the outcome of having two consoles for this generation with different amounts of power, In fact, personally I don't think we'd see that problem at all. FC5 may run at a higher resolution and frame rate altogether on PS4 Pro, but I don't think PS4 Pro will get a higher budget limit than the regular PS4, making Pro maps "laggy" or dip below 30fps on the regular PS4.
What would be cool though, is that now that developers have dropped the PS3 (which FC4 didn't), is a higher budget limit for all maps on all platforms. But I don't hope and I really doubt they will separate PS4 and PS4 Pro players by making unequal limitations, thus making maps from one platform incompatible or set to perform worse than on the other
The budgets would be the same on all regardless of the power. what im talking about is, say you create a custom tank on xbox scorpio and the framerate when walking around that tank is 30fps will it dip below 30fps on normal xbox one.Originally Posted by Lillestoel Go to original post
Well if the budget limit is the same, then it would be optimalized for the weaker console, right? Thus, making it run just fine on regular XBO's and PS4's by not utilizing all the power of the Scorpio and PS4 Pro. I would be surprised if they did the opposite since the Scorpio hasn't even launched yet, and the PS4 Pro hasn't become mainstream in popularity yet... Unless they unlock the frame rate (which I really doubt they will) or lock it to different frame rates on the two different consoles, I don't see this as a problem.
They might lock the Pro to 60fps, but if they do, then I'm sure regular PS4's will be locked at 30 and run at that constantly. It's not gonna be even in that case but I don't see it as a "compromise" for mappers in the sense that our maps will perform worse on the weaker consoles, it's just gonna suck a little for those who haven't upgraded to the Pro, but hey, that's always gonna be the case for more casual players who don't buy the best console as soon as it comes out![]()
Yeah you're right about that, and they already do this for PS4 Pro. But these differences don't (or shouldn't) include performance advantages that set the predecessor console at a disadvantage, considering that they are both of the same generation. The Pro version will look sharper, load faster and play at a higher frame rate (locked), but it will not allow you to build a tank in the IGE that the PS4 can't handle without starting to lag. So to prevent this I'm sure they will determine the IGE budget and limitations on what the regular PS4 and XBO can handle, and then allow the Pro and Scorpio to use the same limits![]()
