Differentiate between parrying a heavy and parry a light attack

How can I easily differentiate between parrying a heavy and parry a light attack?

When parry a heavy attack, we will go for either a guard break + guaranteed heavy (most classes) OR just a guaranteed light attack

When parry a light attack, if i am not wrong, u can get a guaranteed heavy attack without guard breaking. which means we save stamina cost on guard break.

In general a heavy parry will get you a GB. the people this usually doesn't work on is people who've got longer weapons. Bushi, goki, kensei, valk.
Light parries give the opponent more recovery frames so you don't need a GB and instead can just follow with a heavy.
Some things are pretty specific though. like on my centurion I have a max punish where I parry a light and charge a full heavy and then I land it and get a full charge jab into pounce.
However on bushi I don't get that on a parry if it's a side light. It has to be a top light.

It really just comes down to knowing your match up. You're better off sticking to one person and learning them and their match ups. Or asking people key questions like "what's max punish for x?" or can I get x move off of a heavy/light parry?"

Kensei can be grabbed after 95% of his attacks by any class(and even remaining 5% are not an attack class but some miraclous inconsistances)

I can tell you this is not correct. PK vs Kensei: I have to parry his heavy face to face to get a GB. If I am too far I just grab the air in front of him and after that he get's an untechable GB on me.

only if you're close. if you parry him at near max of his rang a gb isnt guaranteed.
