It's time to come out and say it. Champion status should not expire when we're not logged in. You can buy this with real currency, it's literally sold to us as part of the season pass... but if I buy the pass, and I play 15 days of the next 30, I only get 15 days and then it's gone.
I would rather have one day of full playtime then a week of status that vanishes when I'm offline. It's the sort of "You must play or you will lose your purchase" thinking that mobile games use. Except those don't cost $70 to buy initially.
Champion status should count down during actual playtime, and maybe we'd get less to compensate, but at least then we'd get to enjoy every minute of it, instead of losing 8 hours while we sleep, another 8 while we work, etc etc.
In game purchases should not be timed. Especially since our character loot is tied to it. Why not let us play when we play, instead of taking stuff we have to play currency for already away while we are elsewhere?
There's no value in a season pass that literally expires while I travel in real life.
I, respectfully, disagree.
Think of champion status like a subscription period for anything else. When you purchase a 1-month subscription to anything, it lasts for that month.
If it worked the way you are looking at it, a 1-month champion status for someone who plays, say, 2 hours a day (720 hours in a 30 day month) = 360 days worth of champion status?
While I can understand where your request is coming from, I think it is unreasonable.
It's cool if it's shorter in length, but if I pay with steel that has real world value, or god forbid spend $50 for a season pass... that's real money, I should enjoy the value of what I bought.
Give me a week in the season pass, fine. But let me play that week. Why should we pay for stuff that expires while we sleep? After paying the $70 game price to start.
That's the difference.
A subscription is something you pay to have access. We already bought the product. The least they can do is let the champion status we buy actually apply to real playtime.
You believe I should pay $50 for 56 hours of champion status (that's going by your two hours a day example).
That's bad pricing. There's no good there. And how can you say it's unreasonable? It costs them nothing to boost our exp or loot. The fact they want us to pay for the game AND the status AND make it expire so we pay more is as predatory as any mobile game.
Here's the thing: you keep equating steel to its real-world money cost.
While, aye, they give the option to buy steel via real money, you don't need to. Save up your steel and buy 3-day champion statuses when you know you'll have the majority of those days to play.
They have already boosted steel gain from games and from orders so that it is easier to amass steel. They have also reduced the cost of upgrading equipment significantly.
From time to time, they give Community Event Orders that sometimes award steel (you don't even have to be logged in during that period and still get the reward when you log in). It is so simple to earn steel, now, it is remarkable.
