    Centurion a bit op... Reasoned

Well, I don't think Centurion is too OP "per se"

I found it have a reward too high with his chained attacks. I compare other of my characters with him and i found unbalanced with them.

When i play Orochi or Valk (with other heros i don't find centurion to fight against) I'm doing a lot of attacks to open centurian, but he just need a parry to blow up half or more of my health bar without any control for my own.

I need more than three rotation with any hero to end and enemy, but Centurian just need 2 of them.

And Centurian has a far more versatile and unpredictible moves with so many variable charges and feints to GB.

I don't think he is too OP, the character in his own is well balanced in speed, health and damaged.

I don´t think his chains are too OP, maybe a little tweak to keep in line with old heroes (balance centurian or old ones, as u like)

It's when you get all the moveset like a whole thing when i find it OP. He can chains too much CC, stamina damaga and health damage at the same time.

My feelings are he gets too much reward for things he shouldn't. He has tools to be very aggresive and tools to punish very hard, and i can't find other hero with such power in its moveset.

I need to play with it, but at this moment, consume a third part of my stamine is danger zone to be a perma-OOS versus a Cent.

I know it's dodgeable and so, but it feels like a Shugoki can light>hedbutt>heavy>Gb>Oni embrace all chained. One mistake and you are screw up without option.

I know other classes have similar combos (warden, LB...) but they don't consuem up all your resouerces at the same time, usually is health or stamina, not both at same time, and with a high cost of stamina.

Have to see next weeks to a more precise idea.

I like how people are so convinced the Centurion is OP. How is a character that has to hit you 15-30 times to kill you but all you have to do is sidestep one of his kicks or punches and hit him 2-3 times to kill him OP? Maybe you just suck at the game. No, not maybe, if you truly believe the Centurion is OP, you do suck at the game. Get gud.

May be it's you who suck if you need 15- 20 hits to kill someone. That was a reasoned post explained why centurian seems OP.

The post itself is to explain why cent is seen to be OP, and a good oportunity to reason why or why not.

And i thought it's correctly explained. Every character i tried need at least three full rotations to kill someone (with a pair of exception like WL ledge off of oni embrace) Cent need only 2.

It's like complains about long bow or javelin. Just one sidestep and you dodge the damage, But it has been found too powerful by Ubi.

It's too rewarding for so low risk

No, he can't, unless you're fighting a hacker. I've been playing the Centurion for a few days and have gotten him up to rep 4. Even prior to the nerfs, there has never once been an occasion where I was able to 2 shot a single character in the game, including the Shinobi. In my experience, the Centurion is and always has been a weak little ***** with soft puppy paws who's only real damage dealing attack was the ground pounce, which has since been nerfed to be included in his long list of puppy paws attack repertoire.

His light attacks barely do damage at all and his heavies, when compared to every other character in the game, are like getting smacked by a toddler.

People like to complain about all of his unblockables and stamina pool. He has a feat that grants unlimited stamina for a period of time, so you're never going to stop running into a scenario where you're going to see him chaining away, unless you stop being a scrub and prevent the chains in the first place.

I'm going to break down the Centurion for you in depth, so you crybabies can stop moaning and complaining, and might actually be able to beat him.

First, I'm going to explain his combo list, then I'm going to explain how to counter it.

Centurion's Moveset (PS4, sorry peeps on Xbox and PC, don't know your buttons):
Charged Heavy: Hold/Release R2 A simple charged heavy strike
    Lion's Claw: Chainable R1, R1 ,R1 3 hit light attack combo
Lion's Fang: Chainable R1, R1, R2 3 hit combo consisting of two lights finishing with a heavy
Lion's Bite: Chainable R2, R2 Two hit combo consisting of two consecutive heavies
Eagle's Fury: Not in Guard Mode, L3+R2 Centurion's running attack, an uninterruptible leaping thrust attack that, if it connects, will pin you in place momentarily
Eagle's Fury Alternate: Forward+X, R2 A leaping thrust attack initiated from a forward dash, will pin you in place momentarily if it connects
Legion Kick: Forward+X, Square An unblockable kick that stuns you if it connects, can only be initiated from forward dash, no left/right/backward dash
Jab: R2, On hit or block, hold/release Square After a heavy is successful or blocked, a chargeable punch to the face that stuns for time depending on amount of charge
Charged Jab: Unblockable, R2, On hit or block, hold Square until fully charged After a heavy is successful or blocked, a fully charged punch to the face
Jab Combo: R2, on hit or block, square+r1 After a successful punch to the face, press R1 to chain right into any of his combos beginning with R1
Quick Throw: R1+Square After a successful light attack, a quick guardbreak you can either press Square to throw your opponent or R1/R2 for a quick headbutt and push to chain into another attack
Lion's Roar: Square+R1, R1, R1 Similar to the PK's triple bleed stack guardbreak stabs, but without the bleed stack
Parry Counter: on parry, Square A quick knee to the face that can either be chained into a kick by pressing square again or chained into one of his other combos by pressing R1

Now I'm going to break down how to fight the Centurion Effectively

From the move list you see that there are two moves that the Centurion can use to pin you in place to allow him to follow up with another combo or a fully charged punch. These are the leaping attacks Eagle's Fury (uninterruptible) and Eagle's Fury Alternate (interruptible). Both are relatively slow and easy to avoid by sidestepping left/right or by parrying. Both attacks are ALWAYS going to be high attacks, so guard or parry high if you don't feel like trying to dodge. If the attack is blocked or parried, it negates the pin and you're free to continue fighting.

Now let's talk about the unblockables people like to spam: The Centurion only has 3 attacks in his arsenal that are unblockable. The fully charged heavy, the punch which can be charged, and the legion kick. It should also be noted that there are other attacks that carry the unblockable animation on their weapon but are really just part of an attack you cant avoid: these include the knee to the face from the parry counter (which can be followed by a dodgeable legion kick) and the guardbreak triple stab. I'm not sure why these attacks carry the unblockable animation, because they're really just a counter and guardbreak maneuver that there isn't even any opportunity to avoid at all. Back to the main three however, the charged heavy, punch, and kick.

    A. The charged heavy is only unblockable if charged to the maximum, which is as slow as charging up your heavy as a conqueror or shoguki. You can prevent the charged heavy by attacking to interrupt, dodging left/right, or by parrying. What direction to parry is easy to tell, because he always grabs the weapon with both hands and turns his body to face whatever direction he is attacking from, so if you're looking at him and his chest is oriented to your left, he's attacking from the left. You can always anticipate a top charged heavy because it is the only charged heavy that will initiate the unblockable animation on the weapon while it is still in one hand before bringing it overhead to be grasped in both hands.

    B. The punch can come at you quick or slow, depending on whether or not it has been charged at all. Regardless of speed, the punch is always unblockable and the only way to avoid it is to either dodge left/right or prevent it from coming at you in the first place. But here's the thing, the Centurion can only initiate a punch AFTER a heavy attack has hit his opponent or been blocked. This means that you can completely remove the punch from his arsenal as a threat by parrying or dodging his heavies rather than blocking them, or if you do get hit by the heavy, immediately dodge to the left or right. I've heard people say that there's tracking on the punch, but I personally have never once had my punch track a strafing opponent once it's been initiated. If you face a Centurion and their punch tracks you, they're hacking/modding. The charged/uncharged heavy is pretty easy to anticipate if you know his moveset. If you remember from the list, he can only attack you with a heavy either after two successful light attacks (blocking either stops the chain) or if his very first attack is a heavy. The key to knowing what direction to block or parry is in watching what hand he is holding the weapon in. If he is going to throw a heavy from the side opposite the hand that weapon is in, he will grasp the weapon with both hands before throwing the attack. Uncharged heavies that are overhand or from the same direction as the hand he's holding the weapon in can be a bit trickier. But the key here is to watch his arm rather than look for the indicator. If his attack is going to be overhand, the weapon and his elbow will both be at around shoulder height as he pulls back to attack. If it's going to be an attack from the same direction he's holding the sword in, his elbow and weapon will be around low-ribcage to waist height as he pulls back to attack. Understanding that all you have to do is dodge or parry a heavy to completely negate the ability to even throw a punch to chain combos will help you avoid being chained on repeatedly.

    C. The Legion Kick is an unblockable that consumes a bit of your stamina and can be initiated either from a forward dash or it can be chained into by pressing square a second time after a guardbreak throw. Both of them are slow and easily avoided with a quick dodge to the left or right. If you see the Centurion forward dash, it's likely he's either going to perform either the Eagle's Fury Alternate or the Legion kick, both of which are highly choreographed, slow, easy to avoid with a sidestep left/right, and leave you open for punishment. I've heard that there's tracking on the legion kick, but in my entire time playing the Centurion, my kicks from either initiation have never once tracked anyone, so if you're being tracked, you're being hacked. If you see a Centurion dashing forward, the safest thing to do is step to the side and avoid the the leaping thrust or kick, or if you've been guardbroken and thrown, as soon as you're released from the initial throw immediately dodge left/right and the kick will pass harmlessly by you while you're free to lay the hurt on him.

How to Completely Shut Down the Centurion:

    A. Blocking the light attacks will completely prevent the Centurion from being able to chain into heavies or the quick grab.
    B. Parrying or dodging heavies will completely prevent the Centurion from throwing punches that stun you and allow them to chain into other combos
    C. Guardbreak counters will prevent the Centurion from chaining a throw into a kick for a prolonged stun or the Triple Stab
    D. Dodging left or right when you see the Centurion leaping at you will completely prevent the Centurion from pinning you in place for additional combos.

It really isn't that hard to shut down a Centurion, they're slow, outrageously choreographed and predictable, and have the attack power of a toddler. All of their abilities to chain from one attack to another and drain your stamina are completely reliant on successfully landing blows that you failed to avoid or counter. In other words, if you get chained on to death, it's your own fault because YOU LET IT HAPPEN. Which brings me back to my original assessment, the Centurion isn't OP, you just suck at the game. Get gud.

The problem is when he blocks you, then jab (that's the jab that connect all the time) and then a chained sucessions of lights, jabs and GB that you can't escape. Two chains of those kind and you are dead. The recuperation times just lock you down until knocked and pin up.
He is the new king of turtling.

Normal heroes, need to catch you two or three times (parry, gb, whatever) to finish you off, and need a limited amount of conditions to do that, depending on hero: Ledges, certain attack, etc...
Cent has too many oporunities to start his chain: In block, in parry, in counter-parry, in gb (and it's a lot of free-gbs)

It's not the character, nor the moveset, is that he can enter "warden mode" in a lot of circunstances.

I need to check it out, but at this moment, this is the picture he shows

Wrong, the Centurion, unlike the Lawbringer, CAN NOT throw a punch after blocking an attack. The punch can only be thrown after a heavy hits or is blocked by his opponent. If you're talking about his PARRY COUNTER, yes, the first attack is unavoidable. But that attack is either followed up by a Legion kick by pressing square a second time, which is dodgeable if you side-step immediately after taking the knee to the face, or a new combo beginning with a light attack. If he decides not to follow through with the kick but instead initiates a new combo, block the light or be ready to take a light and immediately guardbreak counter as most Centurions wont go for a second light, they're too easy to block and stop the combo chain. However, if you're being parried all the time in the first place, stop spamming heavy attacks like a noob and only do so after he's missed a kick, charged attack, or leaping attack that has left him wide open. And fyi, you can still block, parry, and dodge when you're stunned unless you're an idiot fighting near a wall and get thrown into it. You just need to lose your reliance on indicators and learn how to time them. The only "opportunities" the Centurion has to initiate his combos are ones you leave wide open for him.

The centurion jab pretty much tracks you. Knocks you oj your ***. Free stab. They said you could dodge stab but i havent ever seen it yet. Once the character starts its an unbreakable/unblockable loop thats just horse****. They need to fix jab. Everything else has been fine except for near free guardbreaks and a stupid *** jab. Character is rediculous.
He's a weak little *****, so yeah it takes a lot of hits to chip away at most characters in the game, even the shinobi. If you're being tracked by the jab, you're being hacked, it doesn't track worth a damn in my experience, leaving me wide open to attack every time someone is smart enough to MOVE TO THE SIDE. The Centurion can only knock you on your *** if they hit you with a FULLY CHARGED PUNCH, which takes so much time to perform it's easy to attack interrupt or dodge, or if you've allowed all of your stamina to get drained then take a kick or throw. The only time the fully charged punch attack is even plausible is if the Centurion PINS YOU WITH A MOVE YOU STOOD THERE LONG ENOUGH TO GET HIT BY LIKE A MORON. The leaping attack after being knocked on your *** has been nerfed to uselessness, barely connecting for a single block of health in the entire health bar, and if the Centurion hesitates even the slightest bit before initiating the leap, all the person has to do is high guard as they're standing up to block it. There is no "free stab" after a punch, as any jab other than the one that is fully charged CAN ONLY BE FOLLOWED BY A LIGHT ATTACK. If you stood there long enough to get punched full force, you deserve to be pounced on. The chain is more than stoppable if you know what to expect, and aren't a noob who needs indicators to do all the work for them. Let me ask you this, if you're in a fight in the real world and someone is about to punch you in the face, do you expect there to be an indicator to let you know what direction it's coming from? No. You read their body and watch the limbs. Get gud.

Compared to Valk Cent is not OP... And a Valk can keep your *** on the ground permanently if you misstime the narrow dodge window.

Cent dmg is pretty weak, and he has the 2nd lowest health in the game... His stamina dmg game is top notch, but easily dodgeable.
