The "guy with a rifle and a bible thing" is reminiscent of Longinus in FC4. Unless they're creepy hillbillies, I'll hardly be interested. Religious mercs make horrible opponents (I still make nightmares about how uninteresting were Trinity and the whole ennemy gang in Rise of the Tomb Raider).
Montana setting clearly bores me already. I love the Far Cry series but I'm done fighting bears, boars and wolves. Especially with the same animations 3 games in a row.
Concerning the "focus group", we've seen how FC3 changed between the reveal and the release (especially with characters like Dr Earnhardt) so it may have changed a lot if he is telling the truth.
Yet, Far Cry has become since 3 my favorite game series so I'm sure I'll have fun with 5. Still... Was hoping for fresh new wildlife and another exotic lost paradise. I'll keep faith until proper announcement.
Well I found Pagan Min a weak character, wasn't so keen on him at all - if there is any truth in the above link I hope whoever the main character is that they can do a better job - Vaas was great so hoping we get strong character.
The sooner Ubisoft release some info the better as it's all rumor until official.
Funny to note that the 3 main villains of FC3 were excellent (along some other characters like Dr Earnhardt or Dennis).
Vaas the volatile psychopath we love to hate, cannibalistic and sexually disturbed Buck and ruthless/crual Hoyt were definitly unique opponents, even though they could have used some more screen time.
Concerning FC4, the cast was... well... underwelming. Torture-loving Paul was only seen twice, same goes for "killer lady" Yuma. Arena master Noore was a bit more interesting (good turned semi evil). Yet, for me King Pagan was still a good and funny villain I definitly wanted to hang with (I let him flee at the end). He had some good lines and sometimes he didn't seemed to be a villain at all. Which is problematic since he was supposed to be one. ^^
As far as Primal goes, I loved Ull (sincerely, the guy wears a dead bear as a coat!) and its ending (he ends ups being quite touching, showing that even the most brutal savages do have some heart). In the other hand, Batari was not interesting (unless we're talking abour her final fate).
So we'll see how Far Cry 5 handles villains. Hoping for stellar cast.
I really like Dr Earnhart "see anything you fancy I like the red ones myself" he was whacked out of his skull.Originally Posted by angstik Go to original post
Agreed Brad & Hoyte were great - With Far Cry 2 The Jackal was ok, had a good voice.
I wonder if Hurk will be in Far Cry 5 he was in 3,4 & Primal - a funny guy, loved his missions in FC4
Yeah, this "article" is based on a reddit post I saw last week. nothing about this is official, the redditor himself kept saying "take this with a grain of salt, this was over a year ago, don't know how much may've change" and all that, not to mention i mean, it's just some random guy on reddit, it may all be bs anyway.... I'm not super psyched on the whole cult/ religious theme that is potentially the core of the story, but I guess it really depends on how they execute on the story & those themes that will determine whether it's done well or not ....
angstik has a point that the alleged MT setting really won't shake up the wild-life we've become accustomed to (maybe adding wolverines?), but being that the game may be set in my home state I can't get to upset about where the game may be taking place!
II had a whole reflection about the wildlife and I was very disappointed to note that there are no "new" animal types to meet in such setting.
. Get rid of: (will not be there if FC5 is in Montana/US)
- very big cats: lions and tigers
- Big predatory fish
- Crocodiles
- Pachyderms: rhinos and elephants
- Monkeys
. Probable Re-use: (new skins/same skins with same animations as FC3-4-Primal)
-Bears (I'm starting to really hate those, FC3,4,Primal)
-Wolves (FC4 skin)
-Small sized canids (as coyotes -dogs/dholes FC3/4/Primal)
-Mid sized big cats ( as mountain lion, like in FC3)
-Badgers(FC4/Primal)/wolverine(different skin from rare badger called wolverine in FC4)
-Deers (Primal skin)
-Boars (FC4/Primal skin)
-Eagles (Primal bald eagle skin)
-Goats (as bighorn sheep, etc)
-Megaloceros from Primal (concept will be used for Moose/orignal)
. Potential "true" newcomers (big animals): (meaning new animations and look)
-Wild buffalo
-Bobcat
So if we count only predators/potentially dangerous animals (the only ones truly interesting), we would get something like this list. by "new", I mean not re-used, since for me dingo(FC3), dhole(FC4) and dhole(FCprimal) are the same model/animations with different skin.
FC4: 15 "dangerous animals", 5 "new" (not in FC3, had new animations and model)
Honey badger/Dholes
Wolves/clouded leopard/snow leopard
Bengal tiger/White chested bear/Himalayan bear
Indian Rhino/Asian Elephant/Yack/Boars
Eagles/crocodiles/predatory fish
. FCPrimal: 18 "dangerous animals", 4 "new" (new models and animations. Elder mammoth is different from young one. Same for Cave bear)
African wild dog (called "dhole" and using hyena sounds XD )/badger
Wolves/Leopard/jaguar(far from south america, huh?)
Cave lion/Brown bear/ Cave Bear/ Smilodon
Young mammoth/Elder Mammoth/Whooly rhino/Aurock (called yack ingame)/boars/Megaloceros
Crocodile/eagle/predatory fish
FC5 Montana: 10 "dangerous animals", 1 "new" (not even sure, since bobcat could use Primal smilodon animation/model due to similar morphology)
Wolverine/coyotes
Wolves/Bobcat/mountain lion
Grizzly/Black bear
Wild buffalo/moose/boars
Eagle
In the end, we'll get less animals and most importantly almost all re-used animal kinds if we stick the North american biome. Sure, we're not going to invent new animals and that's why I would have preferred a future post apocalyptic setting with an all new bestiary, or a dinosaur filled island. Primal had this problem of re-using a lot of the animals of 3-4, but had a bunch of new ones (Megaloceros, Smilodon, Cave bear, adult mammoth...). In case of FC5 Montana, I'm not sure we'll have any surprises in terms of wildlife, wich is a major failure for me.
