This takes the cake as my longest-running unfixed bug, since January of 2016. Documenting in case others have same issue.

COMMUNICATION HISTORY
Jonathan @Ubisoft Support Jan 07, 2016 at 12:58 PM EST Thank you for reporting this issue. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
This issue has been forwarded up to the development team for further review. However, that is all that we can do at this time, as we have no further information.
This bug is actually still active, and has been every single day. Even after multiple OS upgrades (on Nougat now), new game installs, and factory resets. If I ever leave the game for any reason (Even to click on the "Trials News" links), I lose all functionality to Bunker, Egg Hunt, etc.
Documenting for others who have same issue.
FYI, I'm no longer tracking this bug. The bug has not been fixed, and still affects two of my phones, and has persisted across Android Marshmallow and Nougat (and basically made my day-to-day playing suck for over two years until Stockholm Syndrome).
Upgraded to a Galaxy S8+ with Oreo, in which this bug is not apparent. I still have the other two phones, but I'm making the S8+ my primary Trials phone (in spite of its weird screen resolution) in order to no longer be victim of this bug.
