Ubisoft, Do You Even Care About Console Gamers?

Since the game's release I have loved this game. It got me into a genre I never thought I'd enjoy. It's challenging, competitive and has a high skill curve. These things were enough for me to ignore the game's issues. However, it's becoming increasingly evident that this game was not made with console gamers in mind and now the things that made me forgive the game's shortcomings are no longer able to justify my commitment to it.

What I mean is the speed of the game and how console gamers cannot consistently react to certain attacks. It's just not fun being massacred by character skillsets that cannot be reasonably reacted to and this is even more evident with the release of the newest characters. Before their release I endured the demoralizing spam of Valk and PK because I only faced them every so often but now that Shinobi and Centurion are out and every duel I fight is one of them I am constantly distraught and broken over the fact that I am utterly helpless against them.

I know they are new and once I get my hands on them I'll figure out their skillsets and be able to counter them more effectively but it doesn't matter. I can't view the game the same anymore. I can't keep playing knowing that most of the aggravation I experience is caused by something outside of my ability to adapt to is not fun, it's masochistic.

I can't see how this can change soon if ever but damn, I would enjoy this game so much more if it were slowed down just enough for console gamers to be able to react at a reasonable, human speed.

You must have remarkable reaction time. I did some online tests and my reaction time turned out to be better than average but I still struggle.

I can react to everything just fine. Ever since the Deadzone adjustment option was introduced, I have no issues consistently blocking light spam anymore. I still get hit now and then, but everyone makes mistakes. For me, it's made a massive difference, especially since I mainly use slow guard stance heroes like LB and Nobushi.

Not everything can be 100% blocked.

You need a certain amount of intuition and prediction. You have to remember the combo's and the capabilities of the heroes you are fighting and react accordingly.

    - A Nobushi is almost always looking to set up her kick so you need to be ready for the light spam and look to dodge it

    - A Conqueror want to get his shield bash going so be ready for his heavy

    - A Shinobi is gonna want to start off his fight with his kick so be ready for it

    - A Shugoki is either gonna GB Home Run you or look for his grab

    - The Beserker is gonna look for her spin or her spam because thats all she has

and so on. Those capabilities come along with certain limitations. Limitations that you use to your advantage. Whether it be block speed, Attack speed, or even just a limited number of Moves/Combos

And every player has their own tendencies. When you get into a match a player has a habit or an odd way of using their Hero then you make a mental note of it so you can defend against it properly or even take advantage of it.

    For example

    - A Valkyrie love to spam over head heavies? Be ready for the top parry

    - A Beserker prefers to use combo spam rather than her spin move? Stop worrying about the spin.

You need knowledge and preparation as well as a certain amount of guesswork. Not just look for the lights to light up. If the game consisted of sure fire ways to combat everything it wouldn't be much of a fight now would it?

You can't just fight against everyone the same way. Every fight is different and determined by the person and class you are fighting.
